Surprised there was no thread for these guys. Their debut releases on April 8, and they just put out a music video for the second ingle featuring King Krule

Some other tracks:

Canal (the first single)

From their first EP:

Any fans?

I remember the wikispeaks shit from awhile back. He's not bad, sounds probably too much like a 96 Cage though.

i think there are a bunch of kids in the group, right? the one white kid does sound a lot like old cage though.

there is a bunch of them in the group

I really disliked the first ep, which may have just been Wiki solo, the music was meh and the last track was actually a soundclip of that kid being interviewed by some blogger chick. The praise it got was the epitome of the 'putting any rapping teenager on the pedestal' trend that went off after Odd Future became a thing.

Allegedly they have improved lately, and their profile seems to be rising. They're all over the new converse ads, same campaign that has Ryan Hemsworth and a bunch of other young music dudes that came up through the internet. I'm still not a fan though, everything I click on is either just mediocre or mediocre and pretentious. It's possible I might just be too predisposed against them at this point to give them a fair shake.

Just sounds like rawkus era underground rap pretty much.

wiki is really the main rapper in the group. there's four of them but i don't even think they all rhyme
wiki is puerto rican as far as i know. his voice might sound a little like cage but his raps sure don't to me.
besides the new song, i like these two

first heard about these guys from a-ron (aNYthing, off bowery, etc.). think he was one of the first yo ever show them love

probably the first song off the new album. my favorite so far. still they do an interview sample at the beginning of the song. they really like doing that.

funny you guys are bringing them back up. i did a show with them and a group called Beyond Modern sometime last year and was wondering who knows of them. anyways, good group of dudes and the show was pretty cool.

Lol this is what passes as "Rawkus era underground rap" these days?

Yikes.

It's really bugged out. I definitely see the old cage comparison but , overall, it's pretty dope and surprisingly melodic for an album with so many chaotic elements.

Kinda odd they're getting a better push now as opposed to earlier when I saw them. I thought with XL Recordings, they would give them a good push and it wouldn't take this long to get more recognized.

they're still on XL. my impression is that the first EP is a release of songs they had written before signing
this is both their debut album & their first project truly recorded for the label

Tes

Yo, Tes had bars, too. I can see that comparison.

never heard of Tes before now. interesting raps, but that song sounds like a bad mash-up with vocals not riding the beat.

If there was one thing NY rap needed in 2014, it's a shitty Tumblr version of the Nighthawks.

totally different production style, and one dude rarely raps.

those who've listened realize.

technically they were doing this before 2014, too.

This is pedantic, pedestrian, and pathetic.

Maybe take these dudes all as their individual parts, but not as a whole. No.
