Don't deserve its own thread, but it's a ill song for sure, looking forward to this album.

Some of his other material is quite average, this is great and deserves it's own thread for sure.

I love this shit right here, can't wait for the album. I think most of his stuff from the last year or two has been phenomenal though lyrically.
This will also be on this next album:
<object width="560" height="315"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/9U-HK9d_CzA?ve ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/9U-HK9d_CzA?version=3&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="560" height="315" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>

Might as well make this thread for the upcoming album that these tracks will be on:
First Of A Living Breed
http://stonesthrow.com/store/album/home ... ving-breed
^short snippets of the album there, sounds promising.

cmon, Homeboy Sandman is easily one of the best new rappers of the last 5 years.

dude follows all the "rules" (aka standards) of the early 90's, but is doing his own fuckin thang in 2012, which damn near NOBODY does anymore

this song is fun and cool, nothing wack

cant wait for his album, easily gonna be top 10 of the year

:naswtf:

Generic hustle raps compared to homeboy sandman???

Dude's music is NOTHING like the derivative shit Ortiz makes...real creative, progressive music. These are all videos from this year-

<object width="560" height="315"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/FrJluVLDxNw?ve ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/FrJluVLDxNw?version=3&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="560" height="315" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>

Last verse on "Hold Your Head" is one of the best of the year.

Wow. That's so incredibly off it's like you've never heard either artist before.

For those of you brand new to Sandman, this clip is probably the best place to start -

<object width="560" height="315"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/MsLiFa3zUjU?ve ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/MsLiFa3zUjU?ve ... n_US&rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="560" height="315" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object>

Step One is just an extremely negative guy when it comes to music. I mean, what does he actually like, right?

yeah. i aint even trying to argue with stepone, but maaaan...

Homeboy Sandman is fucking ridiculously ill. If you can't find a song of his you don't like: blame yourself, not him, LOL.

and though he's kind of an everyman rapper in a way, Joell Ortiz is still dope as fuck. Perfect example of "you don't gotta like him, but you should damn well sure respect him". One of the best NYC MCs of the last 5 years or more, ftwww

Thun. ha.

yeah, I bascially hate everything ever recorded, ever.

My comparison was based on them both being not awful but ultimately forgettable. Given the amount of rappers that build a decent following off churning out this kind of stuff he should do pretty well. Collabs with Guilty Simpson and Sean Price await him.

sorry, he's just not doing it for me (nh). I've heard quite a few tracks of his now and they range from 'that-was-ok-but-it will-rendered-forgettable-by-whatever-song-I-hear-next' to 'fuck, thats really boring'

15 years ago dude would've dropped a couple of 12"s on an indie and then gone back to the day job or something.

^ that's fine and all. If you don't like him, you don't like him but if you can't differentiate between him and Joelle Ortiz you're rap listening comprehension is pretty suspect.

New song is dope, album should be the rap album people have been wanting from Stones Throw.

His last verse is probably the best rapping I've heard all year (not counting Rick Ross, Gunplay, or Waka).
