Gunplay having an album out available for purchase>>>>>>Gunplay having the word "Gunplay" on album covers
I agree with the sentiment of the thread but Biggies official name was "The Notorious B.I.G." ffs
At least hes been laying the groundwork w don logan, unlike Mike Bigga, The Lo, Cocoa Brovaz etc

He's not gonna sell anything tho, so why bother? Rollin' was the only song that ever got any radio play and that was mostly because a.) Tampa's rap identity is virtually nonexistent and will happily latch onto other cities in the state b.) came out right after Flockaveli.
Record sales are meaningless, but Don Logan or Gunplay is gonna do Kreayshawn numbers.

Well itd be nice to buy one and sustain a rly good rappers career but mainly its so he stops releasing halfarsed OPB tapes and is forced to make actual songs.
If he was making good tapes with original songs thisd be less of a problem

you're jumping to conclusions as he didn't state why he's changing his name.
i'm sure most can agree that Gunplay isn't the best marketable name for a rapper unless you don't have interests in doing major collabs or being on displays at Best Buy or whatever it is major label marketing does nowadays, whether it sells or not.
But, dude should have been able to figure a better marketable name when he first started rapping, like what? 5 years ago if not longer than that.
Then again, maybe this is why Spliff Starr never had a single or album.

It's not as if he would ever have gotten attention to begin with if he had a less controversial name and no gimmicks to match. The OTT aesthetics is 95% of his appeal. Hes not a very good rapper and he barely knows how to make a song.

wasn't it 'Peedi Peedi'
This is a Def Jam speciality though - They had Ghostface drop the Killah for Pretty Toney and Noreaga became NORE.
Uncle Murda changed his name to Brooklyn (I think) and then changed it back again after Bekay had something to say about it.

You can't be serious. "Bible On The Dash" is one of the best-written songs of the decade.

Gunplay is such an awesome rap name. I thought it was Rick Ross who was changing his name to Don Logan. SO SAD to find out it will be the only guy on MMG who is actually any type of gangsta.
oh, and Spliff Star never put out anything, because 1) he's like the illest hype man next to Flavor Flav of all time, and 2) Busta Rhymes NEVER let anyone really shine while in his crew. Ask Rah Digga and Lord Have Mercy and even Rampage the Last Boyscout... hell, Charlie Brown recently said there was an option available from Elektra to put out Leaders of the New School albums alongside putting out Busta Rhymes solo albums... but Busta did NOT take that deal
