Didn't listen to this yet, but didn't Zee just drop something with Mr Green, I remember the first single being pretty good.

nah, I am glad he made this song. it's dope and insightful and important.

I nearly shed a tear when I heard 'Fine Line' on ShadyXV. It's totally my favorite song on the CD. Dedicating most of the 3rd verse was :ohsh: and  to me. I was like "word, International Eminem is bigging up the underground Outsidaz, some smart people gonna hopefully wake up to the Outz" and "this is a good look" :killacam:

but Zee made his point. Eminem didn't have to save his life, and yeah, Eminem did put him on the 8 Mile soundtrack on "Thats My N!gga For Real" (amazing song), but that seemed to be the last time Em and Zee worked together.

People be like "Eminem ain't have to save nobody, especially these old bum friends looking for a handout!" But I don't see it like that. Eminem would NOT be where he is today without those people. Without D-12 and The Outsidaz?! There is NO SLIM SHADY. They brought him into rap, co-signed him, sacrificed for him, and helped pave the way for the Greatest White Hype to ever happen in rap.

I ain't saying Eminem's own drive and skill didn't take him very far, but... it's like, where is Dr. Dre right now, too? What's Eminem's business relationship like with Andre? Why hasn't Em used a Dr. Dre beat in years? Dre is the richest man in hip hop history so he's not going to put out a song that makes people think "oh Dre just wants a handout/some attention cause he ain't hot", but that doesn't mean that Dr. Dre and Eminem might not be on good terms, and we just don't know it.

For the friends who didn't do anything WRONG to me, they will ALWAYS be invited back into my life. I'm not going to forget where I came from, or who I came up with. And I think that's the main sentiment of this song, and all the footage around the video.

If Eminem is like "you guys let me sleep on your floor when I was poor", thus Young Zee has every right to be like "why can't I still knock on your door?"

it's pretty telling when Zee is like "....oh.... a thousand lighters. :blank: ......." Eminem TOTALLY coulda done more for the Outsidaz. Why the fuck didn't he sign them to Shady Records, instead of Cashis? :killacam:

Not bad because Zee is actually a skilled rapper. It's just a bit creepy.

album he did with mr green is pretty good, would like to hear him still with a better producer. this song could have been a lot worse considering the topic but it would have been better suited as a PM

Didn't love or hate the song. Didn't make me fully cringe as I expected reading some of the comments but it was a little awkward, but I don't necessarily blame Zee for making it. I am more interested in seeing what kind of response this provokes from Em, if any. I would expect him to respond.

The only response this will garner from Eminem is a throwaway line on a track no self-respecting person will ever hear and that's only if 2015 Eminem knows that Young Zee is a.) alive b.) still making music.

I've only heard a couple songs from the thing he did recently, but I'm kinda surprised people are saying he's still got it off this. The rhymes and cadence seem really forced and contrived. Typically Zee isn't nearly this awkward.

this is what i'm saying.

Zee's tone comes off salty for a few bars on this for sure. But at the same time... DAMN HOMIE.

We can not know how it would feel to sacrifice so much for a homie that used to be in your rap crew, who then went on to become damn near the biggest rapper of all time. Then, 15 years later, when that same rapper makes a song, puts your name in it, and says "damn, I must have had Alzheimers, I ain't shouted them out in a long time"... a part of the regular human ego might be like YA DAMN RIGHT YOU AIN'T REMEMBER YA HOMIE, WTF BRUH :bunk:

not that Zee should just be allowed to ride Em's coattails all the way to the bank... but at the same time, maybe Eminem did do something extra shady and just stopped keeping in contact with his underground friends when the MTV/Interscope fame train went crazy after the Slim Shady LP, which is maybe why Marshall shouted them out on record in such a humble way, and literally says: "Zee/ you always supported me".

Zee says in the song that he had a club in Jersey, but it burned down. He then says he was locked up. He implies there should have been some way for Eminem to know this, and do something to help. If Eminem ignore an old friend in trouble because he's just too famous now and it wouldn't look good for his image, that's hella wack sauce. But if Em just didn't know, then Zee can't blame him. Does anyone even know what D-12 is saying about Eminem these days? Anything?

In 2015, Eminem needs to be around MCs like Young Zee, I think. Bring him back to his roots.
But what do I know? This is all speculation and wonder. What is the truth between Em & Zee? :KANYESHRUG:

It's possible I missed something, but what did he sacrifice? The Outsidaz seemed like more of a loose affiliation than a tight knit group of homies. But, yeah, it's clear that Young Z looked out for him at one point in time when Eminem was in need.

I've always liked Young Zee. Well, shit, come to think of it...the last time I heard him rhyme was in 2000. But I always liked his style. This song is definitely not a great representation of what he can do. The shamelessness of it is the worst part though.

Sage is right.

These were 20-something guys trying to make a career out of rap. I think they both used one another (unintentionally) to better themselves. Just because somebody lets you crash on their couch doesn't mean you owe them a career 20 years later. If that was the case you should be writing a similar song about Alaska.

 that's FUNNY, Jason. Just funny.

If Alaska blew up to become the biggest rapper in the world, and if I toured with him for months, stayed on his floor when I was in town, and gave him the shirt off my back and all that good stuff... then yeah, I might expect to be able to get in touch with him after he shouts me out on his Greatest Hits CD, 15 years later.

But seriously, if Alaska blew up to be as big as Taylor Swift, and then Vast and Vordul or WindnBreeze was like "hey man, what's good? remember me?" and Alaska is like "Security guard number 9, please escort that vagrant negro rapper scum off the estate premises", then :bunk:

Xaula Xany, you're right... when I was writing that, I was somewhat speculating. But I can still relate somewhat, and think Zee must know something we don't, but Marshall does. I don't know what Zee actually sacrificed, but it seemed like he did. And there was probably a lot of personal stuff that we may never know. But I know that a brash, drug-addled, possibly-obnoxious guy like young Eminem rolling around with a bunch of black guys like the Outsidaz and D-12, those black guys are going to have to defend their white homie on a variety of levels and a variety of ways. Especially in the 90's? :omar:

I think you're giving the Outsidaz more credit than they deserve. Be clear. The Outz aint never been that motivated as a group or soloists. If Em is blowing up and thats my homie, the fuck you still living in NJ for? Selling weed?

Use some bread and fly out to Detroit and WORK. Sleep on his floor. You had an open door policy. PUT in the WORK though.

He talking about Slaughterhouse like Em put that together. He didnt. I dont even like Slaughterhouse but those dudes put that together and had music and a following so he invested in it. Em would never have signed that group if they were just sitting around waiting on someone to pick them up.

Bring something to the table. How much of a check does Em have to cut? He's already broken bread with them. Put them on projects and appeared on their projects.

Young Zee selling weed at 40 plus years old, the same as he was slanging in 1997 is a total embarrassment. I hope his kid he had with Rah Digga 20 yrs ago doesnt see this shit. Nobody should see their father looking like this.

I don't look down on people that sell weed. Yeah, it's risky. But it shouldn't be illegal, and at least some states are beginning to realize that (and make a shitload of money off of it).
