did the same... well worth it... thanks for posting itthe dead poet wrote:yea, i bit the bullet and got a month subscription.
i have. some of them are repeats from stuff I already own, and a lot of it isnt even drums. but still enough variety to keep you busy for a while (ever). and im pretty impressed overall with the quality... i used some of these drums in my last few beataday beats... and i think i might have ended up using a bass and a piano sound...Ned Ryerson wrote:yeah i might have to do that this weekend. you had a chance to mess with any of the kits yet?

Re: The Beat Broker Kits (25 gb of drums)
i see your point but the thread title is a little misleading. it's not all drums and with the stuff that is percussion based you can tell pretty quickly which kits are worthwhile. some of the breaks are nice, especially j-zone's lunch breaks. not like anyone here is sitting around auditioning 1000s of closed hi hats
Re: The Beat Broker Kits (25 gb of drums)
Yeah I see now, didn't even bother to click on it before..
It would be horrible though to search for sounds in a 25gb folder haha
Never really understood why people use drumkits anyways...
I know it takes much longer, but I'll stick with breaks/drumsounds from records and cheesy ass keyboards.
Mainly because I love the process of using 1-5 different records to create a custom 'drumkit' that sounds cohesive.
Pitching, filtering, resampling, playing with the ADSR and layering.. Adding some reverb to glue that shit together!
Could do that for days wiithout even creating a melody or using sample's/loops ghehe

Re: The Beat Broker Kits (25 gb of drums)
i hear you, i use both. if i'm listening to something and hear a nice break, i'm probably gonna try to use it. but if you have some nice drum kits, even if it's a custom kit you already made, it can speed the process up. i've definitely heard a bunch of premade stuff that would be more work than sampling your own stuff but it depends. i think some of the drum kits for maschine are real nice. i still end up tweaking them but it's a lot less work

I respect this process, but time moves forward, I've got too much grown man shit to not take shortcuts when possible. Then again, your beats show the results of this kind of diligence, so kudos.ZiekeFons wrote:I know it takes much longer, but I'll stick with breaks/drumsounds from records and cheesy ass keyboards.

Yeah I hear ya, but I kind of meant the challenging part of it though. That's what I personally like in making music.
I just feel drumkits are to easy for me, but I do understand the reason of taking shortcuts as you said.
It saves a lot of time and if that's what helps you and makes the process of creating beats more fun you should do it!
After all that's what its all about.
And thanks man! Appreciate it.
