SoundLab Beat Battle: The Inugami Family (DUE 3/13)

Post by CHANCE RANDOM »

:phila: :phila: :phila: GET DOWN WITH THE GET DOWN :phila: :phila: :phila:

Welcome to yet another wonderful Philafamalam beat battle. Eight producers enter. One producer leaves with the knowledge they make hotter beats than seven random motherfuckers on the internets.

The Source: The Inugami Family OST https://www.dropbox.com/s/k2mmrnyd6hwyv ... y.zip?dl=0

The Rules:

- Contestants will have ten days to make a beat.
- All sounds (except for drums) must be sourced from the provided record. I'm willing to let accompanying synth sounds/lines pass but they better not be the focus of the beat, you cheater. Make your own synths by looping short samples/sounds from the record.
- Contestants will send an ATTACHED .MP3 of the beat with an IDENTIFIABLE TITLE to me at chancematic[at]gmail[dot]com.
- I will upload them to the Sound Lab's Soundcloud account as a playlist.
- The day after the deadline, voting begins and will take place for four days.
- You cannot vote for yourself, dummy.
- Once the voting time ends, another beatmaking time starts.
- Rinse and repeat for three rounds until a winner is declared.

QUESTION FOR Y'ALL: Should we do bracketed face-off rounds or our old style of vote tallying?

Only reason I vote for tallies is because (1) it keeps everybody involved until the end, even if you don't have a shot, and (2) it gives everyone the opportunity to weigh in on the whole collection.

Also, can we list the deadline as a date instead of 10 days from when you posted this? I'm bad at calendar math.

We'll see how we're feeling after round one, we might be able to shorten the time period if people are on their toes. More often than not people get busy/forget about the battles so we'll see.

Probably won't submit something until 11:50 PM Friday night. But I'll be there.

And I'd bet in Sound Lab fashion, we'll have a different album for each round.

Eh, I think the album is packed with enough shit we could do three rounds but we can switch it up too. Whatever's clever.

I don't mind using the same album (Started 2nd song recently). But I wouldn't mind messing with a different album too.

Reminder: shit's due on Friday. I've received exactly one (1) beat so far.

If the Soundlab is anything, it's consistent.

Don't be afraid to make a dope loop and loop it up for a minute. Others have before, others shall continue to do so, I'm sure.
