Re: 3 indefensible rappers you like...
I have never heard a House of Pain song other than Jump Around, but now I'm eager to investigate.
The Brain Austin Green nod reminds me of John Cena, who I'll add to my list. And while I'm on the topic of athletes, I'll also throw Shaq in the mix because Shaq Diesel is a 4.5-star album.

re Shaq - I loved this when it dropped. Beat is still dope to me now.

2 more memorable yo gotti collabos...step one wrote:I've heard 3 songs he's on and liked them all a lot. Not sure if its because of him or inspite of him as they're all collabos. Haven't bothered to investigate further.Echo Leader wrote:Also genuinely surprised that Step One is a Yo Gotti fan.
These are all great though

I can't get with 'Same As It Ever Was'.
It's been a long time, but I remember the production sucking, and Everlast being extra annoying (more than usual).
I didn't hear 'Truth Crushed To Earth Shall Rise Again' until like 2008.
Holy shit, some of those beats are incredible. Really like the addition of Divine Styler, and the Sadat X & Guru cameos are great.

Not all time top 5, but it's a great album. With Pharrell, Chad & Raphael Saddiq on the boards, and Kelis' throaty vocals, I'd rather hear that 20000 times over than listen to yo gotti.

To this day, I know every word of his first verse. It's a both tragic and amazing.step one wrote:re Shaq - I loved this when it dropped. Beat is still dope to me now.

Yeah, 'Rise Again' is good. Divine Styler basically replaced Danny Boy as the other guy rapping on this album (Danny Boy is only on two songs, if I remember correctly). The drums on 'Shut the Door' knock so hard!Jayou Ayen wrote:I can't get with 'Same As It Ever Was'.

Also, this reminds me of how a lot of rap groups in the 90's had three members: The main MC, the second MC/hypeman (who was usually much weaker than the main guy), and a DJ who did all/most of the production and cuts.
House of Pain
Cypress Hill
Funkdoobiest
Naughty By Nature

Soul Assassins represent! When I was younger they were my favorite shit. I also liked the spin-off/b-team groups like Lordz of Brooklyn, Delinquent Habits, Mad Flava, Whooliganz, Psycho Realm...First Beard wrote:These 3 are all DJ Muggs groups. Edit: I always thought that Muggs' two "Soul Assassins" projects should have featured all the rappers and DJs/producers from their own camp (sort of like an Army of the Pharoahs album, only much, much better).

fukkin hate house of pain.
Cypress Hill though, I'm a huge fan of. I haven't listened to any of their albums in a while. I need to remedy that.

I'm the biggest House Of Pain fan alive. I still distinctly remember buying their first tape at the Prince of Prussia mall when it came out. The first Soul Assassins tape still gets played regularly along with the first Psycho Realm album. Muggs MIGHT be my favorite producer of all time.Hush wrote:Soul Assassins represent! Loon is probably indefensible to M2C, but I'm somewhat of a fan. Dude had one underrated single of his own in How You Want That? and one great album cut in This Ain't Funny.
More importantly, he was a part of 4 classic singles - Brand Nu's Back Up Off The Wall, Harlem World's Cali Chronic, the So So Def remix of Jagged Edge's Promise, and Diddy et al's I Need A Girl Pt 2.
