ait props to vince, he made a solid non-OF sounding album in a year when the headliners dropped disappointing or outright terrible albums (respectively i don't go outside, cherry bomb). i enjoyed it, even put my friends on to it. then you guys acted like it was some kind of album of the year, which is preposterous, so i gave you a reality check by noting that b4da$$ is actually better. even though joey's a recovering 90s jocker, his album is better than OF's last sub off the bench who you all spent last year fellating.

I don't think Staples album was album of the year. In fact, I think it was somewhat of letdown, considering the high expectations I had but your take on his and his music is still

Why do rappers need to put out and album every year anyway? Plenty of great artists release shit every few years without getting shit for it

Vince Staples Rips Spotify During Spotify Event at SXSW

"Shoutout to Spotify. Thank you for giving me this check to make up for what you've done to me and all my musical friends."

During his performance at SXSW's Spotify House today, Vince Staples took some time out of his set to criticize the streaming service, The Austin-American Statesman reports. "Shoutout to Spotify," he said. "Thank you for giving me this check to make up for what you've done to me and all my musical friends." Later, he told the crowd, "listen to your favorite album 1,000, 2,000 times so everybody can get an album sale."

But the biggest shots he took were at Spotify itself. “Shout out to Spotify. Thank you for giving me this check to make up for what you’ve done to me and all my musical friends,” he said, lambasting the streaming service that he said pays him a quarter of a penny for each song streamed.

Later he told fans to check the roster of artists who had played and make sure to “listen to your favorite album 1000, 2000 times so everybody can get an album sale.”

gonna listen to the new EP tonight. really glad that vince decided to release a new project this year after releasing his debut studio album last year. a pet peeve of mine is artists who take their sweet ass time releasing projects (i'm looking at you frank ocean).

I like the album but Vince himself didn't really impress me as much on this as he's done before. The production is interesting and at times it seems to be doing the heavy lifting for him, and he kinda gets overpowered by it.

Totally agree the idea that the production does the heavy lifting on the album. To keep with the theme of the album, it almost seems like Vince is drowned out but the guests and production get bigger and more clear platform. I've liked every project of his, this will fit in nicely in his catalogue.

745 and Big Fish were the only salvageable songs on there for me.
