Really great production, huge influence, but not a classic for me. Rapping wise I think it was a noticeable step down for Jay-Z.

Not picking on Jedi but I was always curious as to why people (and there is a bunch) consider Vol. 3 classic. The bolds are IMO the only decent tracks. Anyone else concur or disagree?

No. Title Producer(s) Length
1. "Hova Song (Intro)" K-Rob 2:21
2. "So Ghetto" DJ Premier 4:01
3. "Do It Again (Put Ya Hands Up)" (featuring Beanie Sigel & Amil) Rockwilder 4:39

4. "Dope Man" (featuring Serena Altschul) DJ Clue?, Darrell Branch, Ken Ifill, Lance Rivera* 4:03
5. "Things That U Do" (featuring Mariah Carey) Swizz Beatz 4:52
6. "It's Hot (Some Like It Hot)" Timbaland 4:16

Just because the source rated it a classic dont mean it is a classic.
I think its an aight effort. If you can consciously group an album like Illmatic, Enter The Wu-Tang or Low End Theory in that classic category than its blasphemous to throw the Blueprint in there. Just my humble op.

For me it's:
1. Reasonable Doubt
2. The Blueprint
3. The Black Album
4. In My Lifetime, Vol. 1
5. American Gangster

I consider Vol.1 overrated. Vol.2 is nearly as good IMO. 5th place is like a three-way tie between AG, V2 and S. Carter Mixtape.
JaH BLaZe wrote:Just because the source rated it a classic dont mean it is a classic.
Right, but the overall impact it had on music pretty much does solidify it as a classic. Regardless of how you feel about Kanye, Jus Blaze and the whole chipmunk soul sound, it laid out the blueprint for hip-hop music for years to come. RZA did that production better earlier, KRS-One already did an album called Blueprint, and they both have classics too, but that doesn't change the fact that this album is also a classic.

You dont like Dopeman and Snoopy Track? Those are my two favorites on the entire album.

I also think Things That U Do is great for what it is.

Same, big fan of "Dope Man", "Snoopy Track", and "S. Carter".

Surprised to see the love for Vol. 1. Some strong tracks but was always too poppy and jiggy for me.

I like these songs:

1. "Intro: A Million & One Questions / Rhyme No More" DJ Premier 3:21
2. "The City Is Mine" (featuring Blackstreet) Teddy Riley, Chad Hugo 4:02
3. "I Know What Girls Like" (featuring Lil' Kim & Puff Daddy) Sean "Puffy" Combs, Ron "Amen-Ra" Lawrence for The Hitmen 4:50
4. "Imaginary Player" Daven "Prestige" Vanderpool for The Hitmen 3:57
5. "Streets Is Watching" Ski 3:58
6. "Friend or Foe '98" DJ Premier 2:09
7. "Lucky Me" Steven "Stevie J" Jordan for The Hitmen, Buckwild for D.I.T.C. 5:00
8. "(Always Be My) Sunshine" (featuring Foxy Brown & Babyface) Daven "Prestige" Vanderpool for The Hitmen 4:43
9. "Who You Wit II" Ski 4:29
10. "Face Off" (featuring Sauce Money) Poke and Tone for Trackmasters 3:31
11. "Real Niggaz" (featuring Too $hort) Anthony Dent 5:07
12. "Rap Game / Crack Game" Big Jaz 2:40
13. "Where I'm From" Deric "D-Dot" Angelettie, Ron "Amen-Ra" Lawrence for The Hitmen 4:26
14. "You Must Love Me" (featuring Kelly Price) Nashiem Myrick for The Hitmen 5:47

3. “Song Cry”
4. “Heart of the City (Ain’t No Love)”
5. “Renegade”
6. “Takeover”
7. “Blueprint (Momma Loves Me)”
8. “Lyrical Excercise”
9. “The Ruler’s Back”
10. “Girls, Girls, Girls Pt. 2″
11. “Girls, Girls, Girls”
12. “Izzo (H.O.V.A.)”
13. “All I Need”

15. “Hola’ Hovito”
http://nahright.com/news/2014/09/11/the ... nt-ranked/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Never Change is one of the weaker tracks on the album IMO but I get it. You don't sound cool unless you list a deep cut.

I thought everyone liked Who U Wit and Lucky Me. Some of the singles and poppy songs were wack to me as a kid but I like them today.
