I like El-P, Just Blaze, Zola Jesus, Boots and Geoff Barrow remixes. The others not so much. Crown remix by the guy from Massive Attack is interesting, but doesn't go well with the feeling and subject matter of the lyrics.

These dudes have three good songs, maybe, out of, what is it, two albums now?

LOL @ a rich, ginger-without-a-soul donating all of the proceeds to groups that help victims of police brutality in order that he may dangle himself (:pause:) to the public as someone on the forefront of an issue that he's personally never encountered.

This is like a shitty tape you'd by at a shitty gas station on the side of a shitty road in the middle of nowhere. Anyone who donated to see this album made should be forcibly ordered to avoid, by law, time share pitches.

now that this has dropped, the natural next remix project is RTJ2 with all EL-P's verses cut out.
1. Nas
2. Drake

Pre-RTJ I'm pretty sure El-P was just about dead broke. Even on their first co-tour I saw them in a small shitty bar that had plenty of room to walk around. Killer Mike was probably ready to go all-in on running his barbershops as his main job. The "forefront" of the issue was long ago, and even then most of the biggest anti-police advocates were not personally affected. Maybe because those most affected were so marginalized and voiceless.

The album is free and proceeds donated to charity, as you so eloquently pointed out. I didn't pay anything for it and don't plan on listening. But why should I care if a bunch of hipsters decide it's worth buying some vinyl and those proceeds go to a worthy cause?

As far as the music goes, which doesn't include this of course, I can listen to the first one straight through at any time. I think that had at least 3 good songs. I've actually only listened to the 2nd one the day it came out.

RTJ backlash is funny. This album is somehow very listenable.

Started out as a joke pre-order option when RTJ2 dropped last year, some kid started a kickstarter to make it happen, they raised 60k (cause the internet likes funny and cats), got a bunch of el's producer friends (just blaze, prince paul, Dan the Automator, etc...) to remix the album with strictly cat sounds, and they are going to donate the money.

sounds horrible. i wish they didn't waste those talents on a goof. would be cool to hear them over a legit blaze beat.

Agreed, but at the end of the day it goes to charity, and is good publicity for them.

anything can go to charity at any time if you want it. just saying talent wise, would be more beneficial to all parties if there was some seriousness involved given the potential.

if there was any seriousness involved this would have never happened. it's completely retarded, that's the whole point

yup.

"hmm new run the jewels album? it's just remixes. whatever"

versus

"hmm new run the jewels album? it's just remixes, but of cat sounds. it seems every blog is talking about this. and it's free music. and it's not the worst sounding thing ever."
