Word cause rappers should still be "spitting bars" like they were in the 90's. Music should never progress into anything new...

Word, cause nothing this vid makes fun of is at all valid or on point. It's okay to like the music bro but lets not pretend it's "progress". Also, Hopsin is terrible.

Boom bap/bar rap is pretty boring at this point tho. Future is doing more to push rap music to new/better/more interesting places than corn balls like Hopsin or Lupe Fiasco, and any myriad of rappers Wicked still buys vinyl from.

I get that that type of music and fan base is your meal ticket, Blockhead, but let's not pretend that "real hip hop" in 2015 isn't super fucking stale.

Do you know me to work with #barz rappers? Come on, son.
I agree that shit is stale as fuck. Hasn't been interesting in a decade at least. But i also think think hopsins parody is very on point. Rapping unintelligible words into autotune isn't some brilliant next level shit. Some do it better than others but let's take those dicks out of our mouths for a second if you're gonna hail that shit is ground breaking. I got no problem with people liking what they like but when you try and sell me that some shit is raising the bar when it's clearly not, then I call bullshit.

utilizing melodic flows or autotune isn't next level or "advanced" but neither of those things are actual gauges of a music's quality anyways. at one point this style was groundbreaking & innovative.. now it's just a popular style of the era. it's no different than antiquated styles like fast rapping or multi-syllabic rhyming

There is no "bar" to raise. No one claimed it's better or superior to older rap, it's just different, which is refreshing. Hip hop changing and evolving is a good thing. Is all of current rap great? Nope. However, since I'm still hearing new styles of rap after listening to it all these years, it still captures my interest. That's what really matters.

There's a lot of good music out there currently to discover as long as you stop relentlessly comparing it to the rap you grew up with...

Hey guys, I actually do listen to a fair amount of current rap. Sure, I don't like some of it but let's not box me in with the Wicked's of the world.
I never compared any of this shit to old rap. 'Zoos was the one who bought that up and made the comparison.
I pretty much agree with what Ackbar said.

No doubt.

I just think it's amazing how different say a future song sounds like compared to like what a song from illmatic sounds like for example. I'm not saying one is better than the other, but it's cool to know that hip hop doesn't sound exactly like it used to. That would be boring.

I always thought hip hop's main advantage over a genre like rock is how the sound of it can change drastically from era to era, especially from a production standpoint since its not tied down to one sound (I.E. the guitar in rock). In this decade though specifically the changes in production and styles of rapping have been really significant, which is exciting to me. But that is just my opinion, there are no rights or wrongs here.

Peace to the :phila: banner

he has real dope beats. still, as of 2014 drunken autotone screaming is fresh. hopspin can go back to biting eminem or get with the program before it's too late.

since when does an executive producer select production? there's a case to be made about how little control he has over his material since he's signed to three labels, but i really doubt he's just stumbling into the studio and rapping over whatever lyor/birdman/whoever is running 1017 tells him to
