YT was last year. this year he's in the process of fading out.
future kept it hot, but he's an opener. literally, he opened for drake all summer. we all know who the rapper of the year is.
1. Nas
2. Drake

It's Kool Keith but I voted Kendrick.
This year's poll makes me feel old.

Re: Rapper of The Year
is it the poll or the fact that you have a 50yo legacy act as your top rapper this year?Versive wrote:It's Kool Keith but I voted Kendrick.

Re: Rapper of The Year
A little bit of both, but mainly the fact that Young Thug and Future, two guys whose music I can't even begin to get into, are widely recognized as the best rappers of the day.
You can't even front like Keith didn't turn in solid performances this year. I figured you'd be a big fan of A Couple of Slices, having ridden so hard for Ray West in years past.

Re: Rapper of The Year
Solid yea, but he wasn't even the best old guy rapping this year imo. But whatever it's all relative

Re: Rapper of The Year
vince's only hit of the "energy", 10 bands, know yourself, 6 man, back2back magnitude is senorita. and it's really not stepping to any of these. it is real dope tho.
to me "rapper of the year" should have an impact. doesn't have to have sold the most records, but has to make a mark. with the biggest solo album of the year, biggest collabo album, biggest dis track, and biggest softbatch pop song/dance sensation, 6 god has this easy and if you consider all this i know you'll agree.

Vince Staples' biggest career moments are being mentioned by Dids in the Odd Future thread in early 2010 and having twitter beef with Nore two weeks ago. How was he even nominated?

Re: Rapper of The Year
It might pain me to say this, but I can't front on Drake this year.
Re: Rapper of The Year
Ka is like a high school senior in terms of age compared to Kool Keith...maybe not...I just don't even think of Ka as being old, since his solo career is so young.drizzle wrote:Ka obviously

Re: Rapper of The Year
He released one of the most critically well regarded albums of the year but he shouldn't be nominated for two things that have nothing to do with rapping, got it.Gyangsta 4 Life wrote:Vince Staples' biggest career moments are being mentioned by Dids in the Odd Future thread in early 2010 and having twitter beef with Nore two weeks ago. Re: Rapper of The Year
honestly, if someone thinks vince staples is the "rapper of the year", there's no way to explain it to them. they just don't get it.

Or they simply enjoy his music and don't particularly care for anybody else on the list.EMCEE DARTH MALEK wrote:honestly, if someone thinks vince staples is the "rapper of the year", there's no way to explain it to them. they just don't get it.

2- back2back is a top5 dis of all time -- pls for a rapper perceived as soft it's a big move
3- hotline bling will last at least as long as the human race does
but sure, this year's autotune gimmick rapper obviously had a good year too.

Re: Rapper of The Year
Future ain't rule shit with his not-even-close-to-gold-selling album. But a fair choice if you're still in denial.
Vince Staples on the other hand has done nothing to shift tha kulcha this year or any year.
