Re: Macklemore feat. KRS-One - Buckshot (prod. DJ Premier)
you can shit on Macklessmore 1000 different ways for this, both seriously and humorously, but it's such a forgone conclusion of knocking low hanging fruit that it doesn't even feel worthwhile. although I am genuinely very curious about his intended aims and audience for this. if it's a calculated stab at some sort cultural legitemacy, but who is he trying to win over - boombap dynos that still care about KRS and Preemo but don't care for Mac (so like a couple hundred europeans and wicked listeners)? or is this a genuine sentiment of appreciation from a painfully self aware white rap fan?
but he probably got 2 vets paid and that feels positive in every light, so whatever, at least he got that much out of it

How many times has Macklemore inserted his penis into your butt hole without your Affirmative Consent?drizzle wrote:you can shit on Macklessmore 1000 different ways for this, both seriously and humorously, but it's such a forgone conclusion of knocking low hanging fruit that it doesn't even feel worthwhile. although I am genuinely very curious about his intended aims and audience for this. if it's a calculated stab at some sort cultural legitemacy, but who is he trying to win over - boombap dynos that still care about KRS and Preemo but don't care for Mac (so like a couple hundred europeans and wicked listeners)? or is this a genuine sentiment of appreciation from a painfully self aware white rap fan?

He is when you're playing Rap Safety & Realest Analyst.
The only thing worse than Macklemore's music are the Safe Ass White Ass Rap Bloggerz who pretend to find such profoundly, paragraph-worthy grievance in each one of his horrible songs.

when I said this was too low hanging fruit for bitching what I actually meant was that I have a profound grievance to express, you understood correctly

i think macklemore doesn't see where his lane is. he's caught between pop/lil dicky kitsch/oldschool on the recent joints. i actually like the sound of the hook on downtown, there's just too much going on.

this would be more impressive if the song wasn't about "the 4 elements" or whatever.
it's all KRS knows how to make rhymes about since forever ago.

terrible. Not as terrible as Downtown, which took the term 'horrific mess' to new levels, but still terrible.

the idea of "he paid 2 vets" is kinda decent, but then again it isn't like those vets couldn't up the ante and at least attempt to make a decent album, even if only to independent labels, on their own accord.
the music industry is fickle, and unfortunately we can't go off of "talent = success" because that's barely true 50% of the time, but we can gauge off of
how many timeless, repeat worthy tracks these guys have made throughout their career. and that versus their last album they released, if it was worthwhile.
KRS released a solo album a few months back. barely worth mentioning.

Re: Macklemore feat. KRS-One - Buckshot (prod. DJ Premier)
isn't that circular? these people do try to still make music, most of the time it isn't very good and nobody gives a shit. I could be wrong but it seems like doing quick 16s for a big Macklemore single would be ultimately more profitable then releasing a full album through some indie and then having to promote it/tour for it/whatever.sleazy_j wrote:the idea of "he paid 2 vets" is kinda decent, but then again it isn't like those vets couldn't up the ante and at least attempt to make a decent album, even if only to independent labels, on their own accord. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

true. hell, the singles game is probably more rewarding than doing albums, since most albums ride off one single anyhow.
the only problem is waiting around for a macklemore handout wasn't even a thought until it became a reality.

I don't dislike Macklemore, I just don't find him interesting. Most collabos with our legends usually are extremely disposable. G Dep + Kool G Rap & Rakim anyone?
