I'm sure we have all discussed this, but as a huge Nas and Az fan (and Mega, even Nature) I was never more let down in the history of hip hop more than this. That Boot Camp- For The People was right there with this..

Of course this Firm album had a couple of joints, but fuck, it could have been an all time classic and they fucked it up real good. Fuck.

That BCC album was such a let down. They started fucking w that "live instrumentation" sound. I woulda rather had a fab 5 album a year earlier

Breakup of The Hit Squad.

For an album biggest disappointment, I remember RZA's Digi Snacks and The R's The Master being up there for me in addition to those already mentioned.

RZA releasing his first solo album in his prime under the Bobby Digital persona thus delaying the still yet to be released The Cure as RZA

All great calls so far.

If I may add, the first great disappointment of the post-internet leak era is probably Outkast's 'Idlewild.'

First time I can remember people being told not to download something because of how bad it was.

That in mind, do you think the disappointments of, say, '99 and earlier are more bothersome because they require some level of a monetary investment to be let down with, rather than being disappointed by a stream/bootleg?

Rasassination had hope off the strength of understadable smooth and music of the business. Then they didnt make the album. 6-6-Sicks as well. Add those and cut some of the wack joints and its a solid lp

Definitely. Spending £10 on a disappointing album when you're 13 years old and it might be a while before you can get another one was a bit of a killer.

I think this was the first one I had high hopes for but it didnt live up to expectations. Ice had dropped 3 back to back classics (4 depending on how you feel about Rhyme Pays) and then...

The beats were really poor on this, especially as The Chronic and Death Certificate had come out and upped the ante on the West Coast, plus there was the likes of Muggs, Pete Rock, Premier and Large Pro really taking things to the next level.

We Are The Streets was very dope and stood the test of time compared to most of the garbage from 99-2000.

Back to the Firm. First off, needed Mega on there. But even with Nature, there were joints like these that could have made the album much iller. Also not having the Nas verse on Desperados was a shame. The Firm Biz Remix should have been on there and I think Nas and Az should have had a couple of solo joints. They just dropped the ball so badly on what could have been a classic.

Time to make our own Firm album. Escobar 97 could easily be on there too.

Time should definitely be added

the intro skits should be deleted

Five Minutes To Flush should be replaced with the 4 In The Morning version

Firm Biz should be replaced with the Supreme Team remix

This is why I never thought of the firm album as being a big letdown. In reality it was, but once you start collecting all the loosies from that era it starts to skew your opinion into thinking it was a worthwhile endeavor...

1. Firm Fiasco
2. Phone Tap
3. 4 In the Morning
4. Executive Decision
5. Time
6. Escobar 97
7. La Familia
8. Desperado edited to get Nas' verse in there
9. Firm Biz World Famous Mix
10. I'm Leaving
11. Throw Ya Guns

maybe bonus in Everyday Thing and the Affirmative Action remix. Although both sort of feel out of place.
