Smoke DZA & Pete Rock album - Dont Smoke Rock

Post by step one »

Looking like it will be worth checking (Mac Miller feature aside obviously)
Don't Smoke Rock, which will also feature Rick Ross, Cam'Ron, Wale, and Mac Miller, is set to drop on December 2. Pre-order the album here.

Yea he is, but he chills with a guy named Black Jeff, so he has the right to say things like "whiteboy", bro.

hahaha

But yeah I'm white, so? Most times when there's someone "corny" in HipHop it's usually someone white which is why I said what I said. It is what it is...

I tried really hard to like this album. Unfortunately I can't get into it. Despite these being some of the better Pete Rock beats I've heard in the last several years, the production falls short. There isn't anything all that intriguing plain and simple. I don't know if it's the sample choices or just the way he layers his beats, but they are bland to me. There's a few cool ones though. The raps are okay and fairly entertaining. Decent album but nothing remarkable. 7.5/10
