Vic Spencer

Finally got a chance to peep Vic's music after reading positive things several times and I'm an instant fan. He feels like an amalgam of DOOM, Sean Price, and J-Zone. Crass, witty, eccentric, and unapologetic.

So far I've only checked out his last two projects "Chris Spencer" (his collab w/ Chris Crack) and "St. Gregory" a solo project that just dropped last month. After a couple spins yesterday I'm already putting St. Gregory in the running for album of the year, production is stellar throughout and Vic raps his ass off. Here's a video from each project-

It looks like he's had several releases though. Any other fans with recommendations?

I prefer Chris Crack myself but both of them have really stepped up in the last year or so. Who The Fuck Is Chris Spencer is great and a good one to just hang the 'this is the one' tag onto, but I don't really have a specific favorite out of all their stuff.

Vic's Dead (the catalog) is a good one if you want more Vic. I really like Crack's Last Of The Lean and Public Domain 4 tapes (loose homages to Triple 6 and Max B respectively) if you want more of him.

couple listens in and while it's not as good as their first album, it's still pretty damn good. Chris Crack really flexes here though and steals the EP with strong, honest verses throughout.

yea it's missing a little something that the first one had, feels more like a mixtape maybe (just a little more sloppy and rough around the edges). a couple of really great tracks though

At fist I was a lil underwhelmed, wasn't sure why they made such a softer-sounding album that takes away all the hard drums & adds all these vocal samples, its like french salon music or some shit, but the 2nd half of the tape especially really grew on me ... favs are 'trash bin' 'shark wrestling' 'jill scott's weed stash' 'dam homey'
