The book is amazing!Philaflava wrote:I don't know what is touching Hip Hop Raised Me or will ever come close to touching it.
Really that good?Philaflava wrote:I don't know what is touching Hip Hop Raised Me or will ever come close to touching it.
I think so. It's extremely detailed. One of these few hip-hop books that you can confidently place on the coffee table.Career Over Like Mike(NJJ) wrote:Really that good?Philaflava wrote:I don't know what is touching Hip Hop Raised Me or will ever come close to touching it.

I haven't. I'll check it out, I just hope it's not yet another Jewish dude trying to tell me how NWA was formed. And really, unless Schoolly D is mentioned, I don't know how accurate it can be.battlecatmeowstab212 wrote:Have you checked Westhoff's book though? By far the most detailed history of gangsta rap we're probably ever going to get.

Several Schoolly mentions. It's not at all another "origin of NWA" book. It goes deeper into the pre-rap life of Eazy E and company than anything I've ever read. Absolutely worth reading.Philaflava wrote:I haven't. I'll check it out, I just hope it's not yet another Jewish dude trying to tell me how NWA was formed. Kind of surprised at this. It looked like there wasn't much in there that would be of interest to someone with more than a casual interest in rap. Alot of the photos have been used elsewhere. Is there much in the way of new information or good anecdotes?Philaflava wrote:I don't know what is touching Hip Hop Raised Me or will ever come close to touching it.

Did you just glance at it at a store or do you own it and thoroughly ran thru the book?
