Battle Of The Decade- 90's

Post by stype_ones »

To finish this up, let's battle out the decade of the 90's. I took the top 2/3 voted from each year, and added chronic, 36 chambers, and illmatic which were all omitted from their respective year polls.

I'm giving 3 options here. I think that is better since there are so many options and also because it would be hard to imagine illmatic not running away with a 1 option poll. Although maybe I am wrong about that. You can list your top 3 if you choose or just throw your votes up.

Even with 3, shit is harder than it seems and I think much harder than picking any given year individually.

This shit is uncalled for man. Illmatic + Death Certificate and MM. But I feel horrible about not picking at least one :wutang: release.

Curious, if Street Level was there, would you have chosen over any of those 3?

Nah, that top 3 is a tough nut to crack for me. Street Level falls in the next 3 after that for me.

Illmatic, The Infamous, and Operation Doomsday.

Would've preferred to have been able to include 5, Ironman and The Chronic are right there.

Illmatic, 36 Chambers, and Reasonable Doubt.

Feel like Illmatic and MM will lead the polls here by the widest margin.

I can get it down to a shortlist of 8. Depends whether I go with what I'd prefer to listen to now or what I've played most since they dropped.

You seriously included Suga Free and MF Doom in a "Best Albums Of The 90's" poll??? The fuck?! Even ATLiens, The War Report and Wu-Tang Forever is uncalled for. SOOOO many better choices. The Beatnuts "Street Level" shits on half that fuckin list!!! smh

My Top 10 Favorites from the list...

01. Nas - Illmatic
02. ATCQ - Low End Theory
03. ATCQ - Midnight Marauders
04. Ice Cube - Death Certificate
05. Dr. Dre - The Chronic
06. Ice Cube - AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted
07. Snoop Doggy Dogg - Doggystyle
08. Wu-Tang Clan - 36 Chambers
09. Black Moon - Enta Da Stage
10. Mobb Deep - The Infamous
10. The Beatnuts - Street Level <--- Would be my #10 if it was included!

Between IG, Twitter, Facebook and here, people PLEASE fucking read. It's not hard. These aren't in any order and there is a reason tons of albums are not included. Read people. RIF.

I think Wicked can only communicate in lists and fits of rage. The explanation on how the poll came to be is not Hiphop and as a result, not on his radar.

Of course a tin-eared fgt like Wicked thinks Enta Da Stage is better than Operation Doomsday, ATLiens, Street Gospel, or The War Report.

I will side with Wicked on this, I take Enta Da Stage over ATLiens, Street Gospel, or The War Report. Comparing to Operation Doomsday is a tough call.

Another surprise for me is no De La Soul :ohsh:

Maybe we'll do another poll with a bunch of the left off albums, because obviously there are many.

Taking the highest voted from the individual year polls was the best way to narrow this down for now.

Maybe we can flirt with the idea of groups? Street Level + OK + Resurrection. Like a sweet 16 but with groups.

Illmatic, Wu-Tang Forever and Breaking Atoms.
Ironman and Doomsday would be next.
36 could replace WTF depending onthe day of the week/month of the year.
Stakes Is High would've gotten #1 pick if available.

Before clicking through, I assumed this poll was going to be the logical conclusion comparing each year (with a list of the albums from each poll). But thinking back, I guess we did that one already?

Chances are any inclusions being argued over are at the bottom end and won't have a chance of winning anyway. Not to say they aren't good but this is on some 5 mic Best of The Best 2 fashion.

Surprised Organized Konfusion are getting votes.

The Pharcyde debut is my favorite album of all time, and Liquid Swords ain't far behind. I'll go with Enter The 36 Chambers as my #3.
