What would you like to hear on Take It Personal? Even if you don’t listen to the show, maybe you can lend some thoughts?

We’ve done 6 shows so far, all themed related.

Episode 1 – Debut
Episode 2 – ATCQ Tribute
Episode 3 – Holiday Edition/Our Favorite Years in Hip-Hop
Episode 4 – Wu Tang Clan Tribute
Episode 5 – Respect The Architects (Run-DMC, LL, PE, BDK, KRS-1, Rakim)
Episode 6 – Philly Hip-Hop Tribute (dropping this weekend)

We also have a indie hiphop and westcoast show on deck.

Most of the show is comprised of 90s with a mix of current music sprinkled in. We post a playlist on the website as well http://www.takeitpersonalradio.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Our streaming numbers are really fucking good, but I am a dinosaur and sometimes need to be made aware of newer shit. I am not looking to alter to show, but seeing if I can gather some ideas or maybe newer artist to check for. Thanks.

not to steal from Unkut's CRC concept but an episode specifically highlighting younger/emerging artists who fit your taste seems like a no-brainer

a southern-focused ep too

I'm sure there are some good ideas for shows based on past thread ideas from the T.R.O.Y. section

Producer-themed shows: Paul-C, Howie Tee, Chyskillz, Solid Scheme, K-Def

Sampled Artist or Sampled Label-Themed shows: Cal Tjader, The Fatback Band, Stax, Records, CTI Records (good ideas in issues of Wax Poetics)

Sounds Like The 90's shows

and last but not least…. TURN UP THE FUCKIN' BAAAAAAAAAAAAAASS!

From an older perspective, an all Heiro show would be awesome.

From a newer perspective, you can do a TDE/Black Hippy show, or an ASAP show.

Maybe you can do a segment where you play a few newer commercial songs and each of you critique them, or pit two newer songs against each other as a battle and have people vote in the comments section.

Good ideas. Keep 'em coming.

Producer themed is definitely gonna be done but more on a pop level like Preem, Diamond D, Large Pro or Pete Rock.

You can go really deep and do a whole episode of demos and vinyl-only cuts... you could maybe loop somebody like Chopped herring into the mix, you play some of their stuff they help you promote etc

How about a show that reflects on Hip Hop's early-90's sex craze? Now that I think back I feel that was a time like none other where rapper's hormones resulted in some of the most classic songs.

Red Hot Lover Tone's Pussy's All That, Little Shawn's I Made Love, Positive K's Nightshift, the list goes on.

One of the last radio shows I did was all dis records. Ran through the classics and some lesser known joints but followed each one with the response track (ie Dre Day then Real Compton City Gs)
Had to play the clean versions but made for a good playlist.

A lot of good ideas bein posted, except the Southern idea, unless you mean Southern HipHop (not all that Southern Rap garbage).

* Demo episode
* B-Sides episode
* Posse Cuts episode
* Greatest MC's episode
* Non-Album Cuts episode
* International HipHop episode
* Chopped Herring Records episode
* Southern Underground HipHop episode
* Diss Tracks episode (like Step Son said)
* West Coast Underground HipHop episode
* Producer episodes (not only the household names)
* 80's & 90's Up-Tempo HipHop episode (only those faster bpm joints)
* Crew episodes (Def Squad, Gang Starr Foundation, Hieroglyphics, Likwit Crew, Native Tongues)
* Jay Dee episode (with focus on his earlier career 1993/94-2001/02 before he really became J Dilla)
* Sounds Like The 90's episodes (only featuring music from MC's & Producers who have come out in the last 10 years)
* Album Cuts episode (meaning songs ONLY featured on the album and nowhere else, not even a promo 12inch or white label 12inch release)

Well, he's looking for a way to incorporate newer music.

Anyway, another idea is to do a show dedicated strictly to remixes. So many occasions where the remix was as good and many times better than the original track.

My concern with demos is that most of them are poor quality, An entire show of hiss would drive me insane.

I do think these can definitely happen.

Do a Kool Keith episode. There's a ton of material from all the eras of his career to create a great playlist.

Blends episode would be excellent. Either homemade ones or various ones from new producers like nolan the ninja, debonair p, giallo point, knxwledge ect. Good way to showcase producers.

Blends are a good idea, because there's always going to be a good amount of material that people haven't heard before.

"The Library Music & Hip Hop Show with Special Guest Vanderslice"

Kick it with Van about Library and Rock samples in Hip Hop plus play a set of samples from those genres and Hip Hop songs that used them. Ask if he could play some of his unreleased or forthcoming beats on the show.

^ I mean, if we're going to go that route, might as well start with a Wicked Takeover featuring Shaun D. aka Wicked22.

Very similar to the bootcut jeans vs skinny jeans debate, and we all know how that went
