Middle East (Boston) show thoughts:

-Very dope, overall. WSG is a good showman, for what it's worth. He and Conway rocked for almost two hours. Skyzoo was the only special guest aside from Green Lantern; Benny killed his opening set, as did this new cat that is on the label, (El) Camino. That dude is tough. Conway can rap his ass off. Did joints off Reject 2, the new tape, and dropped a new track off of G.O.A.T which was sooooooooooooooo dope. If the rest of the album is like that track, it's an album of the year contender for sure. Derringer is easily one of the best in the game right now. The show didn't sell out, but was well attended. They show mad love to the crowd all night, consistently dapping up fans they knew through social media. WSG tried to rent out a theater to see the Tupac movie, but nothing was available for when the show ended. Good times. Daringer is short as hell. At one point WSG called out the club for giving him a bottle of Dom Pierre when he asked for Dom Perignon, lulz. They are definitely worth checking if they come to your city.

Wsg kept turning around and showing the plumbers crack in the D, otherwise the show was cool

Pretty good beat, and just good rhymes.

Not a debut single of the 'Purple Pills' or 'My Name Is...' caliber. Want something bigger, harder, angrier. It's aiight tho.

I actually wanted to also write 'In The Club' by 50 Cent. But YES, 'My Name Is...'. That was a very big debut song for a rapper.

'Hi My Name Is...' was bigger for Eminem than 'It Ain't Hard To Tell' was for Nasty Nas, for instance.

Okay but it's wack... Bye Bye Bye was pretty big for Nsync... is that how you're looking at rap albums now? You wanted to hear Conway on a Hi My Name is type of track? to each their own I suppose...

"Hi My Name Is..." isn't wack. It represented the NEXT level of hip hop power. A hugely colorful catchy beat, produced by DOCTOR FUCKING DRE, and three verses of rhyme insanity by a brand new identity in hip hop music carving out a space and time like no one had ever done in history to that point: a Detroit rapper from 8 Mile making major label music on Interscope in Los Angeles on Aftermath Records.

"Hi kids! Do you like violence?/ Wanna see me stick 9 Inch Nails into each one of my eyelids/ you wanna try 'cid and get fucked up worse than my life is?/ my brain is dead weight, I'm trying to keep my head straight/ but I can't figure out which Spice Girl I want to impregnate" :copy:

THAT is a memorable fucking rap song intro, and still stands the test of time. Like the best of Eminem's songs. And already, that song has more quotables than this one, which sadly seems like a tribute to a fallen homie, which is a good look for a debut song, and also having it produced by Just Blaze.

Do you think this Hall N Nash song above will stand the test of time, much less the test of summer 2017? Or even reach #1 on ANY chart? :bunk:

I will listen to more of their work, but this song ain't the BOOM

ironically, 'Boom' was also another great "first single" for a rapper, if that's where they discovered Royce... or 'I'm the King', Royce's 5'9"'s first 12"... but I digress

and as far as pop songs go: 'Bye Bye Bye' was NOT wack, not to me. N'Sync had a few catchy earworms, and that was one of them.

"Hi My Name Is..." still sounds awesome. I'd rather listen to old Eminem than new Kendrick Lamar, I tell you THAT much!

I am a musician. I LIKE MUSIC. I also like Madonna songs from the 80s', The Bangles, Blondie, Pat Benatar, the B-52's, Tiffany, Belinda Carlisle, Samantha Fox... you know... MUSICIANS

You know who else likes N'Sync? Pharrell Williams. Enough to make some pretty good pop music with Justin Timberlake

KANYESHRUG

You know who else likes pop music? DJ Premier. His work with Christina Aguilera is dope as fuck and you're silly to sleep on it :cas:

I did check that album... Primo didn't want to do the record at first until he realized how big of a fan of hip hop she was (her favorite primo album was group homes)... Idc who Pharrell likes... Stop comparing Nsync to Blondie... and you know... musicians... Please stop comparing JT solo work to Lou Pearlman's Frankenstein of a boy band... please stop posting...

Holy shit Bender lists Sam Fox and Tiffany as 80s "musicians", thinks a rap song isn't shit if it doesn't go #1 on a chart of some sort, and thinks My Name Is and other Eminem songs have stood the test of time.

I had no idea this much dumb could come out of one person

Nah I agree with MB

Eminem shock rap punchlines seem dated but that and guilty conscience were massive when he got signed

I don't really know how any of this works anymore in the internet vacuum 20 years later. What is a hit anymore? The only Drake songs I know are on nba2k and they're awful

It's off the Good Book Vol. 2 with Alc & this dude Budgie. Some good joints on there with Bronson, WSG & Conway, Mach Hommy, & Mobb.

Yeah, I pre-ordered it in June and got it delivered Sunday. Never heard the first but the set up is the same. Double album. One CD Alc & the other Budgie. Alc's is the better of the two. Still need to give it some more spins.

that's kinda bizarre becaues they haven't even posted a tracklist for it online yet

good for them though, this 'physicals only' thing has been effective to simulate a feeling of exclusivity

Not bad, but not as good as I was expecting. Either way, hope to get some more info on GOAT at some point.
