Biggie vs 2pac - who won lyrically?

Post by Gyangsta 4 Life »

Fuck with me for a second. :gyeah:

I don't recall this ever being discussed around here.

Who do you feel won this battle?

- consider that Pac actually did fuck Faith and had her sit on his lap in the studio in front of Ray J.

vs

- consider that Biggie & Puff really did hire those Crips to kill 2pac.

My mum says 2Pac won, and she isn't very fond of Biggie for dissing a dead man, although she can appreciate a line like, "bleeding lovely, with your spirit above me, or beneath me".

I let her know Pac was out of control and deserved it.

Hit em up is legendary, long kiss Goodnight is a barely memorable album cut

Pac got this and it isn't even close

While biggie was a far superior rapper it's undeniable that Pac's song was the much harder punch. It's a sucker punch of sorts cause Big never really responded directly but , yeah, it's one of the all time diss tracks to , clearly it wins.

Biggie was a much better rapper. 2Pac was just more interesting and a slightly better story teller.

Eh I mean not sure anything is really much more gangster (or foolish) than killing somebody, writing a song about it, and calling it long kiss goodnight... Also nothing more gangster than basically never responding ever... Having him murked... Then writing a song about it clowning him... Got to say... As far as disses idk if it really gets much colder than that... "I fucked your bitch you fat motherfucker"... "I killed your life you bald motherfucker"... Idk the latter seems more vicious to me...

As far as top to bottom lyrically biggie and it's not close... I listen to 2pac more for his songs, storytelling, etc... I absolutely do not listen to him for his mind blowing skills, rather his poetic value... As far as a pick the mic up and emcee standpoint biggie was much better...

"Your face... My feet... They meet... I'm stomping... ripping emcees from Tallahassee to Compton..."

The way he delivered that and every other lyric on ready to die was a level pac never reached... Although old school is prob my favorite song by both... Lyrics? Biggie all day

This. Gucci trollin'.

I disagree that Pac is an inferior rapper, though. There are things he did with his flow and delivery that Biggie couldn't do, and vice versa.

All I can really say is I wish Pac and Big were still alive. One thing we can all agree on is that the soundtrack to our lives would be exponentially better if these guys were around.

No Vaseline is probably the best diss track of all time.. Ether is the only comp..

Ether and Takeover are right there..

The Bitch In Yoo is special, though. In the mid 90's there were not that many joints where an MC point blank called out heads. Stats to Common Sense for that..

The 80's obviously had stuff.. could easily name a dozen joints, probably more, but we're in the 90's here.

IMO, it's gotta be about the song more than the reality of the situation. Hence, Tupac and no it's not close.

That said, greatest diss track of all time is a different thread and fuck it ... by the logic above, 2nd Rd. KO > both of these little diddies.

^The problem with 2nd round knockout is that Canibus made it and he's the worst. Most petty diss track of all time, imo. A best diss track thread would be dope, btw.

:bunk:

'No Vaseline' is when it goes too far.

'Hit Em Up' is when it goes WAY too far.

I love Ice Cube like lemonade does (no Beyonce) but Cube didn't channel rhyme fury like Tupac did.

'Long Kiss Goodnight' is a fucking masterpiece though and only shitbird simpletons don't bow to its greatness

I think 'B!tch In Yoo' is more :copy: to Cube than 'No Vaseline' was to NWA... but that's just me. KANYESHRUG

'No Vaseline' was :hooray: though and it was awesome to learn that DJ Yella loved it when he first heard it and admitted Cube won

still... Tupac was the realest, most vicious, most hardcore, least subliminal, most direct, most "these are NOT just words" lyricist probably ever, so he wins

'Long Kiss Goodnight' is one of the best things RZA has ever made though :wutang:

but... canibus prematurely terminated his career, got dropped from universal, and made an album as the character stan

and LL did a song with Jlo

Can we take a wee moment to reflect on Mac Dre's underground dis track to Little Bruce where he called Bruce a dirty halfbreed, accused his Korean mother of cooking up cats and dogs, mocked his crippled grandmother, laughed at his dead father and threatened to spit and piss on his tombstone, plz?

I think Pac had already peaked. Big would've ended up falling off or at best gone the Snoop route of popping up with a decent verse on other peoples records here and there

I can never put Ether on any list with that atrocious beat. It would be better as an acapella.

Ice Cube didn't enlist Da Lench Mobb or anyone to help him dismantle NWA. Pac had the Outlawz on 66% of the song rapping like some K-Mart rappers.
