Marginally Controversial Dusty Fingers Thread 1

Post by gusty wingers »

Restless is the best album to come out of the Dr. Dre/Eminem Shady Aftermath era...

This includes

Get Rich
Anything Obie Trice
Anything Eminem
NOT Chronic 2001 (not really fair)
Anything D12
Anything Slaughterhouse
Anything I'm missing

I have been bumping this consistently since the day of it's release and it ages like fine wine... Xzibit never fell off

Restless is a classic... front 2 back... (see what I did there)

from the singles and on this is by far the best album they ever got their grubby paws on...

Thoughts? (that don't involve me fucking off or killing myself)

Never heard it but most of the albums on that label were pretty average at best so sounds plausible, although I suspect it's a 3/5 album at the most.

Doubt it's better than Game's debut but probably sounds similar

hmmm I think the Game album might be competitive but X to the Z is just superior in every way... so imagine the Game LP with a few less beats and a lot less dick sucking/nut hugging

Oh and I agree... horrible label... but with all the crap they dropped this imo is the true gem...

I remember not liking this album much, but it has been a while.

There is no way this is better than the first two Eminem albums. I'm inclined to say the first 50 Cent and Game albums as well, but I'm not the biggest fan.

There's literally yo dawg memes that are better than this album. Xzibit is like 4 1/2 feet tall too btw.

His first album is a personal classic to me tho. And when he rocked that Helly Hansen jacket in the paparazzi video it made me and half the school go cop one.

I agree MadStadik... but this was the best to come out of that shitty label... and the only album I can ever return to again outside of Chronic

I love Nate Dogg's Steve Miller Band karaoke on track #3.

Lots of songs to enjoy on the album but it had too many awkward features and too much filler. Xz fell completely off the map after this album which is a shame. Leading up to the release he had a legendary run of features for Snoop, Dre, Kurupt, Warren G, Reflection Eternal and a few others.
Whether to Jason of Philaflava or John Podesta, I will speak my fucking perspective openly

whichever album had the jawnt where he goes "looking at the earth through wide angles, I found a stairway to heaven in the city of lost angels, where small situations turn to heavy altercations, with a heavy ass price, cause niggas don't fight no more..." is his best moment... but I think that's speed of life... 40 dayz had focus which is one of my fav songs ever... but lyrics speed of life was insane... xzibit really laid it down for a moment in time

40 Dayz had some really good beats, but the songs weren't that great.

Chamber Music
3 Card Molly
What U See...
Nobody Sound Like Me
Pussy Pop
Los Angeles Times

... how many of those do you still give a fuck about tho? 2?

Man Vs Machine had some moments. Especially the bonus disc. Man Vs machine was like restless "lite"

I hated the single. The Dre formula didn't suit Xzibit. He's way better on beats like 3 Card Molly and What U See.

The Eminem song is great tho. Classic Em verses.

I found that to be the most cringe moment on the album personally... I think the Dre style suited him perfectly it was more for me the Eminem driven element... For me him being part of the project is the most disappointing caveat...
