new Jay-Z album is for people evolving and exploring new levels of life

people not liking it are honestly often people stuck on something (whether stupid or 2 Chainz, peace to Malek)

new beats, new rhymes, new life. that's what Jay-Z gave us. you don't like 4:44, there's something wrong with YOU, not Shawn or the Carters

Production is the highlight, album is the perfect length for 2017 Jay Z. Not sure how much replay value it has, but way better than I would have expected.

I dig it. Maybe even better than American Gangster, so yeah like 4th or 5th best depending on how I feel about that and the Black Album on any given day.

Anyone else getting strong TREE production vibes from The Story of OJ? Obviously, NO ID influenced him in the first place, but this almost feels like him taking influence from his followers, like some say Scorsese did PTA and co. in Wolf of Wall Street.

Then again, I think I said the same thing about Bound 2 so, it could just be that but via Kanye.

What do you think, a stretch? I hope not. It's my favorite song on here. (Though Jay blacks out on the last verse of the next song also.)

NO. Fuck y'all egotistical bastards.

I think differently than you. And I NEVER ONCE said a fucking thing on here to "get your attention".

Don't gas yourself that much, bruh. I don't give a flying fuck about any of y'all's approval, and I think it's been clear since the Dicktucking Picture surfaced. And I didn't leave.

It's short and sweet, it's maybe the artist's most sincere work, and it's groundbreaking in its time. I also think 4:44 is a timeless classic, for reasons that you may complain about today, but I will champion next year. It's more Jay-Z's Illmatic for me than any other project of his. This is my god damn opinion. KANYE FUCKING SHRUG

You use a naked picture of yourself on your Twitter profile. Please don't tell me about attention seeking. You can't always be right. You don't always need other's approvals. You don't need to impress others. Stop complaining. Don't blame others. Things you have to give up to be happy in life. Peace to Tony Robbins.

I can hear what you mean here. There were actually a few ATL people on twitter grumbling about 'this is what happens when a producer who usually chops soul loops gets a trap drum kit' and that's literally what TREE does.

Not on the level of Black Album or American Gangster for me, but don't mind putting it with any of the others. Think it's pretty impressive at this stage in his career.

Sadly, that grumbling speaks to the limit of his appeal. For my money, that's one of the most interesting beats I've heard all year. More because of the samples than the drums. No just let loose on it. I wish more producers, soul and trap loopers alike, had the confidence to do that with their chops.

I agree ... also impressive in that a jay album w/ just one producer is arguably long overdue, and even tho the producer wasn't jus or kanye or preemo (one of the guys we might've expected to be roped in for a late-career move like this), they delivered the goods.

Here's hoping Nas does it next (sans talk about Kelis' emotional unavailability).

slow down brah. Album is great cuz we had low expectations (see de la) and there is definitely an emotional connection with this, but its not on par with their first 4 efforts at all.
:naswtf: :bunk: :nut:

What in the flying fuck are you talking about???
This album is better than EVERY other Tribe album except 'A Low End Theory' and 'Midnight Marauders'.
This album has a higher number of dope songs than 'Beats, Rhymes & Life', 'Love Movement' and 'Instinctive Travels'. EASILY. Fuck your internet era cynicism. Recognize magic when it's happening. It's far too rare to ruin with unreasonable doubt. People will be discovering the immaculate gifts on 'We Got It From Here...' for years and years to come.

I totally agree with wuk. NO group in history has done this, hip hop or not. 18 years between their last albums, and as one final offering, they end their legacy with an unbelievable classic, as an immortalizing act for one of their main members who is no longer alive.

It's not hyperbole to give this 5 mics (or 4 1/2 if people want to nitpick a few things).
As we all know, he is not one prone to hyperbole...

This is a very horrible album... I just want to put something into relative context for you Mindbender, while you're calling everybody racist and making pretty obnoxious claims all around ("new Jay-Z album is for people evolving and exploring new levels of life, people not liking it are honestly often people stuck on something")... While you might take a look at this album, making a move from Lil Tunechi to this, or Nipsey Hustle or whatever the fuck else kind of dense headed trash you are into, and you probably think "woah man Jay is really speaking some truth here"... or "this is such an evolved intellectual gem"... for a lot of other people this is a pretty shallow addition to the business self help playbook... Jay z is saying essentially nothing here that anybody that's ever done anything successful can actually take seriously or sink their teeth into... this album is like the first page of any book... Don't go to the club? Buy things that appreciate in value? Guns and butter model essentially? CARE ABOUT YOUR CREDIT? lol I mean bro... you might sit and marvel at this album and think Jay z is God and he is dropping some heady stuff here, but in reality this is laughable for people that have read 13 pages of Think Rich or Rich Dad, Poor Dad, or any Tim Ferriss, or Branson books... the reality of it is two things... like you already said... some people are stuck on stupid and will never like this because they're a bit too beaten down by the system and live in an instant gratification world etc and will never buy a piece of art (lol) and conserve it, save it, hold it, they'll go sell it for crack, try to flip it, get arrested, listen to wayne, repeat... but for the other percentage of intelligent minded individuals, Jay is going to have to really dive into this type of talk for it to mean anything... I guess to pull this all together, Jay z has a chance to make an interesting lane and actually be something positive... I find myself enjoying the idea of him being the rap Tony Robbins, maybe turning a few lives around and creating a new lane of rap... he just has to really do it and not beat around the bush... this album is a cluster fuck... Beyoncé lol his family, future disses, Kanye disses... Jay should make an entire 10 track album call it self help jay and really do the thing... outside of that none of this info is helpful unless you're at a real base level in life

I am a fucking NUDE MODEL at universities for my REGULAR day job, when I'm not a porn star. I get paid to be naked. I don't do this "for attention". You know all the porn stars you like? They get PAID when they are naked on camera, like I often am. You think I do this for anyone's approval?? I laugh in your fucking face. My mom knows, breh. Everyone knows. Because: I DON'T CARE. If you think I'm not happy... judge this picture from my day today:
I still love the last Tribe album more than any other besides 'Low End Theory' and 'Midnight Marauders'. My opinion is different from y'all, and it's PURE KANYESHRUG. I been listening to ATCQ since 91, and Jay-Z since 'Show & Prove' and the Jaz-O days. Eat my porn dick if you think I am saying things to get anyone's attention. I been paid for MY own god damn opinion for 10 years when I wrote for magazines. Lick my opinion's assholes as you fantasize I'm saying it to "get your attention".

:wtf:

Y'all don't like this Jay-Z album because it's his BLACKEST and most political album too, let's just tell the ugly truth :omar:

again I think what you see as politically groundbreaking and just so innovative and righteous is really pretty pedestrian to a lot of people... even life of OJ... is this really groundbreaking stuff? Jay z is saying a black man is held down and for you this is a real political leap? or even further him making a track in today's climate about his mom being gay, basically in the most pro gay era of all time, you think this is a bold addition to his catalog? I can tell you for certain D'Evils is 100 times more politically daring than this...

for me I see a level of cowardice and transparency... never has jay z looked like a bigger propaganda whore than right now... if he was politically daring he would have made a track about his mom being gay before the gay agenda and the tranny movement... that's breaking ground... he's taking the flaming torch and running with it
