Take It Personal - Ep 13: Back to Basics

Post by Philaflava »

Image
Episode 13 has no tributes, no interviews and it's not 6 hours long. We bring it back to basics and focus on the music. With new joints by Perestroika (Apathy + O.C.), Supastition, Conway, Hus Kingpin, Everlast and MC Eiht, plus 90s classics from Redman, Organized Konfusion, Ultramagnetic MC's, Big L, Diamond D and A Tribe Called Quest, we got you covered. At the break, we discuss The Defiant Ones, which kind of turns into a Jimmy Iovine slob fest, but entertaining nonetheless. Please remember to rate and review our show if you're feeling it. West Coast Classics coming up next!

Good job man. Few joints on here I've never heard before.

Been about 5 years since I heard the OG version of The Champ. Still like the album version, better, but real dope.

Really? The album version doesn't contain the Rocky samples tho. Kiss U (Ras Kass), Figaro (Madvillian), all these originals I feel are much better. Too each his own tho.

Would agree on Firgaro & Temperature Rising by the Mobb, but always felt the album version of The Champ was better. To be fair, I heard the album version numerous times prior to hearing the original years later.

Also the original wasn't the greatest quality where as the album version is crisp.

Just did both versions? I believe that's him doing the Rocky dialogue on the album version as well. I could be wrong about that. Read that like 10 years ago.

Plus, the 3rd verse Ghost's added on the album version is just insane.

The original was Micky and Clubber Lang. The album version couldn't clear it so it was Just Blaze talking.

Yeah, I was referring to the beat, but revisiting them, it's dumb question since they're basically identical. It's just odd hearing a beat from Just that rough and stripped down.
