WORD. TMT includes basically any "free" release in our monthly mixtape column, which has me thinking of almost everything as a mixtape nowadays. The distinction fades more and more every year, but I could definitely see a case made for all of those as albums rather than mixtapes. (I actually edited CupcakKe out b/c I saw even Wikipedia is calling it a studio album.)

Red Burns is in my Top 3 for the year.

That MIKE joint is especially not to be slept on IMO.

That'll get chucked in an album thread for sure. And I agree regarding that MIKE jawn, definitely one of the surprises of the year.

Don't think anybody here ran a best mixtape vote in 2010, but back in '09 Lil Wayne won it for No Ceilings. The delineation was more clear cut then.

SOTC is completely on some other shit, that needs it's own category. I think the Medslaus thing was an album.

Out of the list, really enjoyed Conway, Benny, most of the Lil B (although this is an album too I think, there was a different Black Ken mixtape some years back), a lot of the Tee Grizzly. Payface was pretty good but didn't stick like the tape with Cardo did. I'm sure Kodak and Starlito were great but I'm kinda worn out by them.

He calls it his first official mixtape, Datpiff put it up a day early accidentally. I'm not very well versed in his work but I think he announced this mixtape like seven years back and finally dropped it or something like that.

eh the whole thing is incomprehensible, doesn't really matter in the end anyway. you're doing a great job trying to hold all this together, appreciate the effort

Yeah, one could conceive of SOTC, DJ Escrow, Babyfather, ELUCID, Moor Mother and surely a few others in a "rap-inspired experimental weirdo shit" poll.

hey potna, just noticed a glaring omission. "without warning" by metro boomin, offset, 21sav is mixtape of the year (more life of course being a playlist). please add this ASAP so phila head don't have to degrade themselves by voting for super slimy.
