When X approached me about getting back into music, I was a little apprehensive... I had been out of commission, so to speak, for over 10 years. The Unreleased Album was a just that - songs that had been in the vault from old sessions, supposedly to fill in for songs I wanted replaced on My First Album, nothing was freshly created.
I was always jotting down lines in my phone, writing on scraps of paper, waking up and rhyming into my phone in the middle of the night ( it's in the blood I guess) but hadn't written a solid 16 or anything in years. Put out a call for beats on fb (Mistah Live, thank you fam) and Aneeway Jones sent me some treats (40 plus beats to choose from, thank you fam). Laced a few verses for King Cesar and the Organik album and felt that vibe coming back. SPITR started being formulated. We dropped Bourbon Street last year and it was received well.

SPITR is an acronym for Smartest Person In The Room. I chose this title because even though I've been compared to a few MCs, I always felt like I stood alone. Sounds good. I'm glad he decided to bless us with some previously-unreleased material. It sounds like he was going hard toward proving his lyrical ability and departing from the comedic stuff he's known for.

I used to live a block away from this college where he used to co-host a Hip Hop radio show. Same college where Puffy threw a party that nearly got Nice & Smooth killed by a stampede. It was DJ Mecca's (from Kevin Keith & The Dirty Dozen) show that aired during the late 90's.
