Trying to make an East Coast "Sunny day style" Mix

Post by gusty wingers »

I want to show a friend why I love hip hop. It wasn't about the gangster tough guy flows, it was about the summertime cookout, the fly clever smooth beats and rhymes. It doesn't have to be East Coast but I prefer East Coast sounding, not G Funk or that type of stuff. I want to create the ultimate relaxing compilation of generally 2000s hip hop that showcases the smooth 10 AM sunny summer day vibes.

Tracks that fit this bill for me would be

I remember in the early 2000s there was nothing better than laying back with a cold drink on the beach in New York playing songs like

I keep a playlist on my iPhone of those type of tunes, and I hail from NYC since '83. Here are some from the playlist, I hope these give you that sunny day vibe. A mix of the 80's, 90's and 2000's.

This one always reminds me of sunny days, and it's one of the latter vinyl purchases I made at the now-closed Fat Beats NYC store. For that reason, the song brings good memories in addition to being a dope song in general.

Here are some re-recordings that Grand Puba and Artifacts did of their classic songs backed the Sunny Daze band. Definite sunny day style vibes. https://cratesofjr.blogspot.com/2013/10 ... ulful.html
