No Wordsworth? No Phonte? Game? Grafh? Jada? Even Common? Nas?!

C'mon, man... these dudes DEFINITELY deserve to be named in the same breath as Ill Bill and Sage if you want to talk best emcee.

I mean, Masta Killah? Alright, he released a hot album, but wow... one of the best emcees of '04? Bullshit.

The "Jesus Walks" verse, the "She Wants to Move" verse, the "Get 'Em High" verse, the "Why" verse, and "Food" are all enough to put him within the top tier of emcees putting it down right now.

There are only so many options you can enter.

Wordsworth, I agree with you on.
Phonte...........No.
Game..................NO.
Grafh.................HUGE NO.

I tried adding Jada, Common, and Wordsworth. It wouldn't allow me. Besides, I was trying to touch on all genres that cats who frequent this board listen to.

Had to give to Ghost over Bro Ali, simply for album over EP. Both are pretty close in quality, but yeah, that was my rationale.

Ghost Dini. How it could be anybody else (on that list, anyways) is beyond me.

Quel should'nt be anywhere near a list which involves the word "best".

Ghost wins it with ease.

solid is not "best". Dude's music is definition middle of the road abstract underground. Does'nt hurt the ears but calling him the best emcee is going way over the mark.

That's why this is an opinion poll. I'm sure there is a fair number of cats who use this site that would consider him a "personal best" for 2004. You feel differently.

Rock the vote.

Out of the folks you listed, I would lean towards Sage Francis. But I think the best MCs in the game are as follows:

Saul Williams
Mike Ladd
Immortal Technique
Rob Sonic

And if Mos Def's upcoming album is as good as it should be, he'll be on that list to.

well word. but that spot could have gone to a number of more deserving candidates. hence my singling him out for removal from the list. My reply to your post was a backing of said statement.

yeah, there is no way kanye should be even considered as best mc. As an MC he is very mediocre.

my vote goes to Brother Ali though. The Champion EP has been one of my favourite releases this year. The tracks Chain Link and Rain Water are definite stand outs.
