The contest turned out to be a success and there were alot of dope remixes and alot of bad ones as well. There were 6 judges who voted on each remix and picked their top 5 picks. The contest wasn't about who had the best production, it was about who had the best overall REMIX. There were remixes with incredible production that just didn't compliment the lyrics and remixes with good production but the lyrics were synced waaaay off. I chose Step It Up as the song to remix because of the wierd time signature and I figured it would be a challenge for most people. There were around 200-230 producers in the contest from all over (with some doing as many as 3 remixes each).

I'd like to say congrats to The Builder (Phillip Bollhof) from Freiburg, Germany for winning the contest and placing first place in the contest. Also the surprise gift to the contest that wasn't advertised is that I'm going to redo the remix with all new lyrics for the remix CD (an extra bonus). He'll have the winning remix featured on my site as well as the Soulspazm site. The new version will appear on the remix CD alongside remixes from Nicolay, Illmind, Jake One, M-phazes, and Symbolyc One.

The second place winner was a producer named Chedda. It was a close contest between him and The Builder. The remix was dope and a favorite among the judges. He will also receive the second place prizes as well as have his remix featured on the Soulspazm site.

here are the Top 5 Remixes:

1. The Builder
2. Chedda
3. Gyphted
4. Astronote
5. Blazematic

honorable mentions:
Tzarism and Miles Bonny

Links to the Top 5 Remixes will be posted on both sites tomorrow.

Thanks to everyone who participated/remixed the song and thanks to all the heads who listened and critiqued each remix.

thanks,

Supastition, Soulspazm Records, and 3sixteen Fabrications
