Best CEO/Label Head
Choose wisely.
I picked Master P. He turned his indie label into a damn empire and put out records like clockwork.

the first batch of classic wu releases were all on different majors. i'd say rza's role as producer and executive-producer were much more pivotal than "label ceo".
*EDIT* - rza also had very little to do with wu wear...and when everything formed as an "official label" it was na razor sharp, wasn't it?

I voted for Dame. He never screwed his artists over and earned mad money.
Rza was a bad businessman btw. Spreading the artists out across various label with minimal control over them was'nt a genius idea. While inovative, his plan ultimately fell apart (even he said it's better to keep your artists under a single umbrella in the Wu-tang manual)

what does a random list like this have to do with anything? it doesn't have anything to do with how they run a label, what they do, and no connection with how business are run or how good records are made. not that any of us would know what goes on behind company doors - it's pure fantasy guesswork - completely arbitrary.Combo7 wrote:wilshire wrote:this is the most idiotic poll i've seen in a while
Explain why.
although i'm probably just taking it too seriously. i should be content to waste time at work and leave it at that. peace!

i gave it to puffy b/c he made a lot of money off the death of his best friend, made a lot of money off three misinformed blind contract-signers (lox), made a lot of money off a dude who's in prison, and ummm, he can dick around on mtv all he wants and nobody fuckin cares - in fact, PEOPLE WATCH HIS SHITTY MAKING THE BAND SHOWS. and i'm going to include clothing line b/c someone mentioned wu-wear. well fuck, sean john is as big as any hip hop clothing. plus the dude made a bunch of no talent hacks famous with makin the band and humiliated them on national television countless times. say what you will, but he's a smart businessman.

Monetarily speaking. I'm saying you never heard of an artist saying he did'nt get his due ala Suge/Baby/JPrince/Swishahouse/MasterP/everyoneCombo7 wrote:Funk Docta Bombay wrote:I voted for Dame. He never screwed his artists over
M.O.P.?
he DID overstack a roster and mispromote some releases though.
^^^
every artist interview i've ever read has claimed j. prince is nothing but a loyal friend and business man. he always looks out for his artists...just doesn't promote or push them worth shit.
swishahouse also didn't jerk anyone. chamillionaire got ripped off by their first label, paid in phull records.

Not sure, I was sure I read somewhere that Do Or Die were really sour with him.ackbar wrote:^^^

the Swishahouse is my bad though. I meant Suavehouse (*ducks Southern Rap fans for the rookie mistake*)

definately master p...why? cause he turned a label with shitty to subpar music into an EMPIRE, it was all about the business not the music on his part...
his ads with pen and pixel were revolutionary, he started his own clothing line, MOVIES, prepaid calling cards, Clothing, the first rapper shoe deal, played for the hornets for like a game, SPORTS AGENCY (they signed ricky williams remember), he basically owned the streets off of SMART BUSINESS, not music.
He's still holding it down with his son and one of the most popular Nick shows ever, where he costars in it and runs it...
dude is genius
