I just made two beats from these records i bought the other day.
the first one is called "one way." it is a somber sounding, emotional track. At least that's how i see it.
the other one is called "the cash box." this one reminds me of some beatnuts track or something that an mc could just wild-out on.

I see what you mean about it being a Beatnuts-styled beat (primary focus being a catchy sample), but the drums seem to be too prominent. The central sample has a bouncy energy that seems dulled by the almost sluggish drums. About the fourth or so time the main sample loop comes through, i'm expecting it to change (almost like a bridge) for a bar or so and then go back to the main sample. The changeup around 1:50 is dope stuff-almost like the stuff I'd envision going in the stead of the main sample every fourth loop. The hook does its job from a sequence changeup standpoint.

Step it up remix - Cool sample. Could be an epic build track but it needs some EQing, a lot of mids and low is missing. The lows really need to bump on this. Drums are nice it is a real cool break. The vocals are so off this is pretty unlistinable. The vibe is real cool but the changes don't fit the verses.
Whats the perscription? - I like the lo-fi quality of this. The high pitched wail need to be dropped occasionally. After a minute it felt like I was listening to the emergency broadcast system. Drums should also carry this one along better as it is now it is kind of plodding along.
The Cash Box - The beatnuts comparison is a pretty good one. This track is solid in every sense of the word. Some brief changes or mildly distorted bass could spice it up though. Drums stay changing a good amount. The chopped section towards the end is real dope and should be dropped in periodically. A lot of good peices in this. Rather than just taking a piece and looping it 4 times try mixing up all the pieces and interspersing them or something.
One Way - Some hassenfefer-esque drums in this. Not really pattern wise but tonally the drums are dusty, distant, and cold. good for creating a mood. The whole mix seems a little thin though. Pretty ambitous but not enough to hold my attention as an instrumental. Some other elements (rhymes) could help this.

one way - beat was nice...real simple, drums were cool...needed some bass to it...beat got kinda boring to me tho

"what's the prescription" - beat/sample is insane. Really feelin that. Maybe you coulda done some more change-ups in the whole 2:06 minutes, but that loop is great. Add some more bass.
"one way" - I like this alot. Shit reminds me alot of Ressurection-era Common.
your drums are ill, doper than Hasenfefer's imo.
