Best Breakout Solo Effort

What's the best solo jawn by a rapper who estranged from their clique? Wu-Tang and Hiero won't count, that's for a separate future poll.

Easily Cube.

For Dre, you could say he barely rapped on there for it to be his album, rather a comp.

Kool Keith as "Kool Keith" is cool, but we all know Doctor Oct was his real shit.

KRS would have been my 2nd pick, but I once said this was his best solo and like 15 people gave me the argument that he was the only rapper in BDP so technically it's not his first album. I say bullshit, cuz Jazzzmataz is Guru's first album IMO.

So yeah, first Cube than KRS.

True, KRS was the embodiment of BDP. One can also say that when Scott La Rock was alive he was an integral part so when Kris broke out and came with Outta Here and Sound Of Da Police, he reinvented himself and his place in the game.

Haha! I remember that one. It was funny because I think everyone in that thread knew exactly what you meant, but nitpicked anyway.

Gotta love message boards.

Cube

KRS and Dre don't get it cuz KRS was rapping solo for years and Dre was'nt really a solo as much as a new crew.

If you accept all of the poll options as valid choices, it's impossible not to pick Dre.

Not a chance!! Cube was a way better rapper than Dre will ever be but 'The Chronic' was classic from start to finish.

An azmaning turn of events. The doctor and the nigah you love to hate are neck to neck. Will the natural born killerz remain in a dead heat for long? Remember you decide.

Return of the Boom Bap means just that
It means return of the real hard beats and real raps.

It was tough to turn down Cube, but Laurynn Hill's solo proved to the world just how useless the other Fugees were. Dang

I understand all of these are great albums, but I don't get the mentality of the person who picked Cee-Lo's debut over say The Chronic, Amerikkka's Most or ROTBB. I refuse to believe any 'anti-agreeing,' "new jack" or select individual just trying to be different would honestly choose that over the masterpieces I have mentioned. No way.

I'm shocked that Busta, Cee-Lo and Prodigy have a n elected vote too. In my opinion Busta and Cee-Lo aren't the nicest on the mic and Prodigy works better with the Havoc.
