I'm glad this said "favorite rapper" rather than "best rapper." That would have been a bitch.

I voted for Killa, slightly over Cormega.

i picked bdk as well. this thread will seperate the older posters for sure.

i can't imagine those picking guys like masta killa or mega were listening to hip-hop IN 1988.

and this ain't a diss, its just the reality of things.

i know everyone here seemed to love no said date...but i can't accept that people like masta killa this much. BY FAR the worst rapper in the group...almost everyone of his wu-tang appearances is terrible.

sole has more rhymes than MK...he has a monotonous flow...and raps about the stupidest shit in the world.

This relentless attack of the track spares none

For me it was between Slick Rick and prodigy. I went with Prodigy though.
Both of those guys are up there with my favourite rappers of all time.

Conflicted between Mega & a slick brother with a fade and a half-moon.

seriously tho.. what was the point of that post? i mean, i know it was probably great to hear it when it first came out, but some of us really didn't have the option, so should we be considered second class heads because of it? especially if we make the effort to educate ourselves?

i'm 19, so i guess by definition i'm a new jack, but it was between BDK, Pos and Grand Puba for me. All are amazing even to this day on the mic, and their older stuff is still fresh to death even if i didn't hear it in 88.

In the end I went with Pos.

and whats up with the Masta Killa hate? No Said Date was easily a top 5 album of 2004, and his first verse on the title track is still

he doesn't rhyme. his flow is boring. his subject matter...

come to think of it, he almost fathered aesop rock's style.

His flow can be monotone, but that one line is one of the truest ever spoken.

Personally I voted Pun, with Pos as a close second.

Masta Killa was the shit even before No Said Date. That album just reinforced it and banged it over the heads of nonbelievers.
