if you're upgrading from a NT1, dont consider a studio projects. Its basically the same shit different toilet. Look at something like a Groove Tubes GT 55, 57, or GT66. Or a Rodes NTK. Or a Shure SM27 or SM32. I have a studio projects B1, and it sounds great, but why would u go to cheaper mic if you're supposed to be UPGRADING?

shure ksm 32 or 44

the groove tube joints are alright too like Remo said

check out the Blue mics too just because (special edition dragonfly is butters)

however, if budget is a problem, I dont think its a bad Idea to cop the studio projects B1. Having mulitple mics is a good thing.

this man also speaks the truth. i have 5 or six mics lying around the crib and am always on the lookout for more. I am a connosieur of inexpensive mics. i like seeing how good they can be or can be made to sound. i think my list is something like:

Oktava MK219 (i'm thinking about taking it apart and modifying it)
Studio Projects B1
CAD E100 (first edition)
Samson C01 (dont hate, i got it for $40, and it sounds decent)
AKG Perception 200

And I hope to within the next 4 or 5 months become the owner of a Rode NT1A and Groove Tube GT57. And I wanna pick up a focusrite Trakmaster Pro channel strip...

I'm also considering picking up the MXL9000 tube mic which is $200 just for shits and giggles. I dont really expect it to sound great, but for $200 how can I not get it? Especially when I got that guitar center employee discount which cuts the price in half. :::insert evil laugh:::
