Hey remember me?

Post by The Red Scare »

Hey guys...I just got back from my semester in Vietnam, everything was awsome but my laptop broke halfway through the trip so I couldn't make beats which pissed the hell outta me. Anyway, I'm glad to see that this forum seems to have really picked up since last time I was here...that's great.

Well I just finished this beat and I'm lookin' for some feedback. Please drop a line or two if you got a minute. The beat is called "Casualty of Peace"

Thanks!

welcome home dude. i'm tyring to get to asia before i turn 25, so i'm more than slightly envious at the moment.

the track is interesting as hell. feels kinda...classy. like. shiny wineglasses and oblique references. like, this is what androids conceive robot kiddies to.

the drums roll along really smoothly, but the sounds are a bit too whitesnake for me to really approve of. the patterns you flip are fucking fresh though. it's a cool joint, i'm just not sure what's to be done with it, which is my own hangup.

good money dude, and welcome back.
got more records than god.

www.myspace.com/tayoisnt is where i show how i use 'em.

i like this, and i'm usually not a big synth fan...it's sequenced really well, moves along nicely, but you need to remove those drums, homie.

causualty of peace--hmm nice, laid back vibe here. i like the bassline. the snare seems like it's a bit too loud, at least in my headphones. very nice movement and structure. you're very good at making instrumental music. the only thing i'd change is the snare volume or eq it a bit so it's not so piercing. this is really good.

so, do you find a sample, then make a bassline yourself and add all the drums and stuff on top of it? how do you go about making your basslines?
