**Beat Battle Submissions Due Today (Saturday)**

Post by The Red Scare »

Post your beat battle entry in this thread. Beats should only include samples uploaded in the other thread, although you are allowed to provide your own drums and bassline.

Please do NOT post myspace or soundclick links. Upload your beat using sendspace or an equivalent. I will then download all of the beats, and post a link to one zipped file containing all of them in the voting thread. This will make listening to everyone's beat a lot easier. Make sure to include your Philaflava handle in the name of the mp3.

The deadline is Thursday, May 10th

Good luck!

I used both the samples that Panthrow and Asphyx provided:

See, the thing I don't like about this format is people who post first are making themselves vulnerable to people who haven't started.

For example, Ardamus posted his shit, and I haven't started a beat, so now I know what vibe to avoid to stick out.

You know? I'm sure the people who post first don't care, I just think it makes it easy for us low-lifes to pull some sneaky shit.

beats stand out cause they're dope. No beat is gonna win simply cause it's a different format then the others, ya know.

Ok, how about this argument...

Imagine if you made a beat, and somebody flipped the same sample you flipped very similarly, and since they posted their beat ahead of time, you have the opportunity to change your intended course of action?

I'm not trying to be difficult, I'm just saying for fairness's sake.

yeah that would piss me off. but the second dude changing his beat would benefit both producers, wouldn't it?

We could say you PM your beats to Red Scare instead of posting it?

I usually wait till the deadline to listen to them all at once, so it doesn't matter to me.

Nah, the mailboxes only hold like 10 PMs at once, and there should be like 18 submissions.

I don't see what the big deal is....its not like the winner gets anything special anyway. Just wait 'till Thusday to submit yours if you want. That's what I'm going to do.

As I said, I will download all of them and then post a link to a single zip file. So no need for anyone to download multiple links.

I understand what you're saying. I had mine made earlier because I thought the deadline to have the beat done was by last Thursday. I saw the thread and it said to upload submissions and etc.

And if you wanna avoid what style of beat I made, thats cool, too. By all means.....do you. I'dl ike to see what everyone else comes up with as well to make this more interesting. This is really all in fun, I don't see what the big deal is.

It's really not that serious people. I don't think we have enough shady people to worry about here anyway.

The simple fact that the inbox only holds 10 at a time is evidence enough.

Too many cats here are dope enough not to worry about posting first and all that jazz.

I'm uploading mine now so I'm not tempted to work on it more tomorrow when I should be studying for my exams

I think it turned out pretty good

I knew you were gonna eat up that shit from the Mystery Train soundtrack.

Almost makes me wish I didn't use it for this contest.

Beautiful work as always.

So I'm going to submit the beat I did the same day as I uploaded the sample... I hadn't done anything I liked with the provided samples, so instead of cowering out I'm gon submit the beat I did that day. Another thing, its a biggie remix - i know this isnt a remix contest but I made it on a fl demo and forgot to export an instrumental... hope this doesn't make anyone blue in the face.
