Eightball & MJG vs. UGK

True heavyweights in the game. Don't front on the earlier 8Ball & MJG catalog before casting your vote.

Not voting since I'm unfamiliar with their material, but I've been meaning to get into both their catalogues. I guess the beginning would be the best place to start with each of them?

It comes down to their early catalogue to me and personally Eightball and MJG are some of the hardest motherfuckers to spit gangster rap so they get my vote.

One of the toughest polls yet. I used to listen to alot of 8 Ball & MJG in the 90s. And loved the Living Legends album that came out a couple years ago. Always been a fan of them.

But, Bun B has been killin the game and now that Pimp is back, they are strong as ever. Bun kills EVERYTHING he is on. I just saw them in concert a few weeks ago and they KILLED it.

Imma go with UGK.

MJG and Pimp C have some of the illest flows ever. Both keep improving too. While Ball and G have amazing early albums, you cant dismiss Supertight, Too Hard To Swallow and Banned. Its not like Ridin Dirty is their only great album.

There is really no way to pick this on the basis of catalogue or rapping, so I'll give UGK the vote for Pimp C's production.

i mean realistically though Ridin Dirty is their back to back classic, Comin hard was back to back, Outside Lookin In was back to back , On Top Of The World was back to back. Thats how they got my vote plus they made my high school years a lot more fun.

wow, this is hard to do but......ima go with Ball and G, as far as albums go past and present they win, but if i were to say currently UGK would win that cause there current output is better.

You guys need to bust out Supertight and Too Hard To Swallow. They are better than they are getting credit for here, and are in the same league as the Ball and G albums we praise. The creativity on those albums is off the meters.

Eightball & MJG. Why? Eightball's "Lost" is probably one album of the south that doesn't get its proper shine. Big ups. That was a hard decision to make.

yeah i listen to supertight atleast as much as i listen to ridin dirty if not more. dont see how thats not a back to back classic, pimp c is on one for that album.. to be honest though all ive heard of eightball and mjg is On Top of the World so i dont feel qualified to make such a critical decision..

Yes they are. Although to be fair, to most of us everything below the mason dixon and West of the Rockies is pretty much Texas.

UGK gets my vote, although I think all you trendy UGK fanboys should probably go check some 8Ball & MJG and find out about the dopest group from the south that isn't Outkast, The Geto Boys, or UGK.
