i'm the only vote for com so far

i was never much of a tribe fan, & resurrection is a great album regardless of whatever he's been doing lately

No of course not.

Resurrection may the finest full length example of introspection the genre has to offer, an artist bearing his soul through dense and perfectly layered raps, but Marauders has beats, yo! Hard like two day old shit!

marauders. hard matchup though.

lyrics, com has it. beats, tribe has it. but for the overall feel and nostalgic value the record has for me, it's marauders.

Midnight Marauders lacks the 808 kicks neccessary for me to validate it's ignorance.

I have fond memories of getting my hand down a chick's pants for the first time (with her) while the whole "Midnight Marauders" LP played over and over about three times in my Jimmy. I had just bought the CD that day (the day it came out). I can't say what I enjoyed more, getting my fingers wet in virgin pussy or the CD....

Marauders for me.....

very good point but mm destroys ressurection

once you get into classics which both of these are...you come to the three different steps....ressurection is on the first and mm the third

I'm generally one of those lyrics do matter guys. But the answer has to be Midnight Marauders. Not only are the beats better, the songs are better. And no, not in the jawn droppingly ill simile type of way, but they're better crafted, produced, conceptualized, and realized. I judge albums by how likely I am to pick them up and listen to them though, not how just how they read on paper.

One album you can listen to any day of the week from start to finish. The other you have to be in the "mood" and its usually once every year or so and you can't even listen it to it all the way through.

Your stance on what's important in an album has changed like coins. Choioing, choioing, choioing.

At what point did I express a preference of adequate rapping and great beats to great rapping and great beats?

I don't mean to down on Midnight, I love the album, but to act like it's head and shoulders above Resurrection, no questions asked is to do a disservice to Common and to this discussion.
