One of hip hop's greatest new voices of the last decade, Brother Ali, has recently released a 9 track EP and DVD package entitled, The Truth Is Here, that features two highly sought after b-sides and seven new and previously unreleased songs including "Philistine David", which was featured in the Jonathan Demme directed documentary, Jimmy Carter Man From Plains and "The Believer," a collaboration with Slug of Atmosphere.

Below are two of my personal favorite tunes from the new EP, which is available online now!

Living Legends MC and renowned poet, Eligh, has recently teamed up with his very own Mother, Jo Wilkinson, to create a sultry soundclash of hip hop and folk music. Creative, original and splattered with a myriad of sound mashups never heard before, the Living Legend MC pushes hip hop boundaries further than they have ever been pushed, and ends up with a record that might define the new creative generation of hip hop artists.

Below are three sample tracks from the record, which is now available in stores and with various online retailers.

Here is a late track that I finally heard after returning from my work trip to Savannah, Georgia. Washington DC's own, Oddisee, hops on his own production and definitely makes hip hop cool again. Track is off the upcoming Mental Liberation compilation, which is due out Cinco Dey Mayo. Ole!

Living Legend MC, Scarub, and Us Pros MC, Very, combine forces once again as Afro Classics; a bouncy combination full of Los Angeles laced lyricism, southern spirit and a constant head noddin' vibe that is hard to find nowadays in "underground hip hop."

Below are two of my favorite tracks from the 6-track EP, which was released on March 10th and is available online.

This is how I like to end my Sundays-- New Cunninlynguists with an ill guest feature from Slug!

Peep the new single from Strange Journey Vol. 1, which is set to release on March 24th. The record features guest appearances from Killer Mike, Khujo (of Goodie Mob), Skinny Deville & Fishscales (of Nappy Roots), Slug (of Atmosphere), Tonedeff, Substantial, PackFM, Mac Lethal, Mr. SOS, Looptroop Rockers, Hilltop Hoods and more! Once again, all production duties are handled by Kno.

Strange Journey Vol. 2, the 2nd disc in this series of touring and travel conceptual records, will be available September 8th of this year and features appearances by Sean Price, Poison Pen, J-Zone, Blue Sky Black Death, Bronze Nazareth and more!

I don't know how anyone else feels about the situation, but in my opinion-- Detroit has the hip hop game on lock right now. With the amazing output from Black Milk, 14KT, Invincible, RideOut, and more in 2008, the D rose to the top of my list of areas to watch out for. Now, with the release of Finale's debut record, A Pipe Dream and a Promise, it's officially over, and it's about time the hip hop community flipped their radar controls and locked it in on the D.

Below are two of my favorite tracks from the upcoming record, which is set to hit shelves and online retailers on April 7th. The album features production from Dilla, Black Milk, Nottz, Oddisee, Flying Lotus, Waajeed, and more.

As Obie Trice beings to collect empty bottles in anticipation of his third solo record, World Wide Hustle, he has teamed up with an obscure Los Angeles indie rock band named, Julie the Band, on their popular song, Foggin' Up a Clear View. Interesting mash up, but I'm definitely fuckin' with the track.

One of my new favorite artists, Outasight, is currently cooking up the follow up to his debut record, Radio New York, with a album on Select/Alternative Alliance/Warner Music Group entitled, From Here to Eternity. But, before all that, Outa has dropped a Mick Boogie laced Mixtape full of "new joints, loosies, remixes, and b-sides that is meant to be a warmup to my upcoming album dropping this summer (explaining the "prequel")."

The prequel features the likes of 6th Sense, Oddisee, Ced Hughes, The Kid Daytona, Donny Goines, Tunji, Cook Classics, Print, D/Will and of course is presented by Mick Boogie and The Press Play Show.

1773 is MCs Wisdm O.N.E. and Just J with cuts from DJ Moral One. Recently, after DJ Moral One joined the group, 1773 put together their third record, Return of the New, an LP that boasts guest spots from Lightheaded, Othello, Theory Hazit, Poems, and more.
