What players sports cards did you collect most?

Post by hessbz12 »

Everyone has there favorite player. What players cards did you collect most.

Mine was Alonzo Mourning. I was always a Georgetown basketball fan and when he got into the pros, I immediately started collecting his cards.

I'd say I collected around 100 Alonzo Mournings from his days on the Hornets.

Besides Rickey Henderson, I always enjoyed collecting as many dupes of as many rookies as possible. I'd try to own all of them like Will Clark, Donnie Baseball, Boggs, Sandberg, you name it.

I really enjoyed Rated Rookies, UD Rookie Star and Future Star cards. I'm a rookie whore. There were always obscure players I liked to collect too like Glenallen Hill, Mark Whiten or Brian Jordan.

I own 23 Willie McGee '83 Fleer rookie cards I bought in a lot once on eBAY. I have a dumb collection.

Michael Jordan
Frank Thomas
Walter Payton
Barry Sanders
Jerry Rice

The best Jordan card that I ever had was the 88 fleer, though. I had a ton of 'em, but I gave away some and I sold the rest.

My neighbor had this huge paper bag filled with 60s and 70s football cards, and he hooked me up with a Walter Payton rookie. The Payton card has a nice-sized crease in it, but whatever; that shit was free.

I used to steal 89 NFL score wax boxes like mad, so I still have quite a few Barry Sanders rookies.

A Toys-R-Us by my neck of the woods was selling lots of mid 80s NFL Topps in these weird packages with cards from various years back in 1988/1989, and I stole quite a few, so I landed a couple Jerry Rice rookies.

And of course, I stole some 1990 MLB Leaf waxboxes.

I used to steal from herbs around my way on occasion. They'd eventually find out, and there'd be beef.

I guess that I was on the fast track to the penitentiary back then. Places like Walgreens, Toy-R-Us, etc made that shit too easy, though.

I would have liked to have stolen some 1992 MLB Bowman, but by then, it seemed like everyone was putting their cards in locations where you couldn't steal them without getting caught.

1988-1990 was a glorious time, though.

Yup. I have hundreds of Thomas cards stashed away at my parents house. Same with Lenny Dykstra.

Collected pretty much any philly player that I could get my hands on.

Best card probably is a Cal Ripken Topps Finest Refractor card. I freaked the fuck out when I landed that card. My parents thought I had killed someone.

I can't tell you how many times I contemplated stealing 1992-1993 NBA Fleer Ultra waxboxes, but I never actually pulled the trigger.

I really wanted that Shaq "All Rookie Series" card that was going for around $100 at the time.

I collected a gang of Ricky Jordan cards.

Those Topps Finest cards are sick. Every card was a mint. Not ashamed of this but I stole a Mike Schmidt RC about 2 years ago. It was just laying there in the cheap bin and I had to take it for the lack of respect the seller had towards it.

 I have two binders full of Will Clark cards. I have no idea why I decided that he was my favorite player, but I decided I was going to collect as many of his cards as possible. As I look back on it... I wish I had picked someone else because I can't believe those are ever gonna be worth much.

Anyone remotely good who played for the Rangers between 1988-1996. Scratch that, ANYONE who played for the Rangers during that time.

That and Tom Goodwin. Me and my Pops thought everyone was sleeping and that this Dodger's prospect was set to become the black Brett Butler. Turned out he was just the black Tom Goodwin. Oh well.

Have 600+ kemp and like 500+ payton....and probably more surprisingly i have over 400 robert pack cards >_> Like gloss i used to collect as many of a players rookies as i could, sometimes multiple pages of the same card.
