This has to be in the Top 5 upsets in any sport for this decade. Soderling is known as a notorious choker, I still can't believe he pulled it off. Fuck, these French Open are fucking incredible.
I somehow have a bad feeling about Federer screwing up even though he has coped with immense pressure incredibly well, especially if he's not facing Nadal.
Hoping for a Tsonga - Fed semi now

I'd probably change this to Fed in 5 though.coldwatermusic wrote:1/4 final:monfils - federer (fed in 3)
Did anyone catch the Soderling - Davydenko match? The Swede is playing unreal right now. He actually might be the favorite to win this right now if he doesn't face Federer in the final, who is a terrible match up for him.

So my initial prediction turned out to be correct. Monfils got owned out there today. 20 GS semis in a row for Federer. Incredible.
This is the greatest and weirdest Roland Garros ever, not a single pusher/retriever in the semis. Soderling vs Gonzales is either gonna be a UE marathon or a ridiculous winner onslaugt.

Calm down with that GOAT status.

No doubt about it anymore. I'm really happy for Federer, this must surely be the sweetest victory he's ever had. Dude has won all of the Grand Slams and is still going strong.Gregg Popabitch wrote:THE GOAT
He's officially better than Pete. Sorry Sampras fans, but you guys should man up and just admit it now.

Yeah, Sampras is definitely out of the equation now, the only one left that might be considered GOAT instead is Rod Laver. In terms of the Open Era, Fed shozld be undisputed. I think his 20 semis in a row might be the most remarkable of his records.
Pete agrees btw:

Incredible serving today, impressive mental strength and great variety. The first set was one of the best sets Federer has played since the AO 07. The tie-break was just amazing and the way he kept his cool in the 3rd is also noteworthy. Holding serve throughout the entire final under these conditions is just"What he's done over the past five years has never, ever been done ג and probably will never, ever happen again," Sampras said in a telephone interview with The Associated Press. "Regardless if he won there or not, he goes down as the greatest ever. This just confirms it."
