I will be patriotic and go for Murray but he needs to block out the hype that will follow him for Wimbledon. Not saying Henman would ever have won it but I reckon the hysteria went against him at Wimbledon and he didn't deal with it...

Yeah, if British media were less gay, I think Henman would have won at least one Wimbledon, somewhere in betweeen the Pete and Roger years.

Up until now it is kinda ridiculous to list Murray as the main favorite alongside Federer (as most British bookies have done), even if Nadal's knees are seriously fucked (which I doubt they are). He's been the male Jankovic. Great in best-of-3 Masters tournaments and mediocre at the Majors.

I think he could make the final but he might have a better shot at winning the USO than Wimbledon this year. It all depends on whether Fed is still hungry and Nadal physically fit.

He also needs to hit his forehand with more authority and stop the pushing shit. If he plays like he did against Nadal at last year's USO, he has a shot. If he once again starts pushing again, some big hitter will overpower him once again (see Verdasco at AO and Gonzalez at FO)

So Nadal lost both exhibition matches, in straights to Hewitt and the super-tiebreak against Wawrinka. Apparently he was playing a lot better today though. Press conference to follow. He will not withdraw. No way.

he has excuses lined up out the ass right now.

Yup, it's getting ridiculous. Uncle Toni is even worse. You can bet that camp Nadal will try to do everything to let the excuses pour in when he loses a match. He's practically never lost a match were he wasn't "tired and injured, no?" Big fucking deal, change your style of play or you're gonna burn at 24-25. It's that simple.

There is 0% chance that Blake will ever win a grand slam. There was never a chance even when he had that one good stretch.

Of course not but he may at least reach another QF.

Seriously, Murray's draw might be the easiest one ever now

Sucks that Nadal is not playing.

Cahill might be talking out of his ass but I can't help feeling there's some truth in this:
Darren Cahill: Well, firstly, I think everyone's extremely disappointed he's not going to be defending his title. I think the year that he had in the last 12-months and the match that they played between Federer and Nadal here last year, for me, was the best tennis match I've ever seen -- we won't get a repeat of that.

We sort of saw it coming, big surprise at the French Open, a loss to Soderling. And he's been complaining of knee problems for quite sometime, he played a really heavy schedule going into the French Open. I think if he could have his time back, he probably wouldn't have played Barcelona, his home tournament, or maybe even Madrid coming into the French Open; but he's done that. He's promised everybody that his knee problems are not chronic, it's not career-ending, he just needs some time off. But I think to me, just a gathering from the press conference here, it seems to be a little more mental than physical and he just knows that he's hit a wall at the moment. And with the knee problems he has he's not getting any better.

So I think it's quite a lot psychological and not so much physical, to be quite honest.

And here's what happens to the draw:

Nadal's absence will cause a reshuffle in the menג€™s singles draw. Number five seed Juan Martin Del Potro replaces Nadal at the top of the draw. The 17th seed James Blake moves to line 65 to take Del Potro's position. Nicolas Kiefer moves to line 56 to take Blake's position and lucky loser Thiago Alves takes Kiefer's position on line 61.

6 (4 FO, 1 Wimbledon, 1 AO)

I'm gonna miss that fucker. I'm obviously a Federer fanboy but having Nadal creates great drama and I love rooting against him. Another Fed/Nadal final would have been great especially after what happened last year.

Sharapova even put a lot of risk in her game when she was broken in the last set. Was a pretty intense game, especially the ending.

Goddamn, Murray is so fucking boring to watch 90% of the time. He's obviously smart and knows which opponents will self-destruct but his game puts me to sleep.

Usually I'd say that his shitty loopy forehand and pathetic 2nd serve will not cut it here (see AO, FO) but looking at the draw he could probably only play sliced forehands and still make it to the final.

Del Potro is out, Hewitt is in decent form but still a washed-up has-been, Roddick may pose some problems but is simply not good enough on return, Stepanek's groundstrokes are too weak and Wawrinka and Gonzalez are not nearly as dangerous on grass as on other surfaces. The top half of the draw really is atrocious.
