Celestino Caballero Brawls With Members of Juan Manuel Lopez's Team
BoxingScene
Bad Left Hook
by Scott Christ on Nov 6, 2010 1:43 AM EDT in Boxing News Analysis
Ryan Burton of BoxingScene.com reports tonight that there was a bit of an incident, so to speak, at the Lopez-Marquez weigh-in on Friday. Celestino Caballero and trainer Jeff Mayweather showed up to have words with Lopez about a possible 2011 fight, and it got physical between Caballero and members of Lopez's entourage, with one of the Puerto Rican's "bodyguards" allegedly punching Caballero.
Caballero, as always, had something to say when speaking to BoxingScene:
"I just wanted to talk to Juanma and get him to agree to fight me. ... If I wanted a brawl I would have brought my Panamanian crew. I just want to fight him."
Well, you can't accuse Caballero of being boring. The Panamanian is scheduled for a likely one-stop fight at 130 pounds against Jason Litzau on November 27, the opening TV bout of a triple-header on HBO. It's been over a year now since he's been seriously calling out Lopez, chasing him from 122 pounds up to 126. The fight appeared likely for this past January, before the sides bickered over who was asking for too much or too little, and Lopez instead fought Steven Luevano.
Should Lopez beat Rafael Marquez tomorrow at the MGM Grand, there will be plenty of potential next fights for him, but there's a lot of heat behind a Lopez-Caballero fight at this point, maybe even more than for Lopez-Yuriorkis Gamboa, which is the big fight Top Rank wants to build to. Of course, Top Rank controls both fighters, so of course they'd prefer that than to match Lopez with the dangerous Caballero, who fights for DiBella Entertainment. But for now, both of them have fights to win this month, and they should each probably focus on that.

Yes, you should watch it. It was very entertaining. Even though Marquez clearly wasn't 100% he had a few good rounds and their styles definitely made for a good fight.
Definitely post that shit. You said you've been competing, but you have your first boxing fight next weekend. So what were you competing in?

Pretty pumped for the fight tonight. lol @ 24/7 trying to make it seem like Pacquaio won't be prepare. I think he'll finish him within 10 rounds. Obviously Marg can make it fairly competitive and go to the judges score cards, but I don't see it. He didn't look good in his last fight and he has a lot of pressure on him. It's also his trainers first big fight. He isn't quick enough and throws too wide, especially when he's throwing to the body. Even when he throws his jab his other arm chicken wings. Pac will be the quicker fighter and will get in and out with the better foot work.
mostly grappling, with 2 muay thai fights. im not gonna post everything but ill throw up a few.Versive wrote: Yes, you should watch it. It was very entertaining. Even though Marquez clearly wasn't 100% he had a few good rounds and their styles definitely made for a good fight.

And im super pumped(no fist) for Pac-Margacheato....Not really rooting one way or the other, just want a good fight. If i had to pick i'd go with pac though. Mosley showed he(marg) can be stopped, but pac is naturally so much smaller, not sure if hell be able to KO him, pretty sure he could win a landslide decision though.

for the link.
Pre-fight controversy
11:28 p.m. -- So all hell is breaking loose in the back. Margarito's camp is questioning Pacquiao's hand wraps. Freddie Roach is demanding a pre-fight blood test because he suspects Margarito has taken ephedra, an illegal stimulant. Texas commission is refusing. It's getting ugly.
11:31 p.m. -- Roach contends that the ephedra will not be detectable after the fight. I consulted a doctor on this who said the half life for ephedra is 3-6 hours, meaning depending how much was taken it could be out of his system by the time the post fight test is done.

Pac is a machine. But I'm not sure why he even chose to trade with him against the ropes, it was only time he looked vunerable. Margarito just looked slow and had nothing behind his punches, he does have a solid chin, but he didn't deserve this fight.
