Again, no real surprises here. Better team with best player on the pitch won. Can't see Arsenal cracking the Top 4 this year. I hope they get sold because they need a whole new change in philosophy. But that prick will probably hold out for 5 billion, fucking asshole. Fuck these dudes.

Arsenal's schedule over the next couple of months is pretty favorable. Still think the Gooners get CL next season.

Re: Official European Football 2012 Regular Season Thread
I agree that being bought out by oil billionaires is pretty played out and kind of a shitty way to "build" your club, but it's the way things are going now if you want to a legit shot at the hardware, especially in England. I just mean it doesn't matter who owns them as long as they give the club a real chance to succeed, something the current ownership structure doesn't do. The group looking to buy already claims that they would wipe out the debt, lower ticket rates, provide an annual transfer budget, and build through the academy. Where's the downside?Positive A wrote:Meh. Getting bought by Arab trillionaires is weak sauce.stupidregister wrote:Again, no real surprises here. Better team with best player on the pitch won. City, Chelsea, even United (who "built through youth") are all owned by billionaires who spend. And the misconception is that if you're owned by billionaires, they'll go bananas like PSG has. Well when the club you purchase is shit and you want to win, you basically need a whole new team. The trend has been to take a shitty club and inject a ton of money into it. Chelsea, City, PSG, Malaga were all built on this model, but what about investing in a club that's already pretty good? You don't need to go buckwild to buy a whole new roster, you just need to become a buyer and not a seller. Even City spent a ton early on to build their club but haven't made any real splashes recently. Maybe new ownership would be a bit more reasonable but I'd be happy if they treated the club like a club and not a business investment, or at least didn't give that impression.
Spurs are a little bit of an old-school exception as they've conducted good business (Modric who?) but in the grand scheme of things, they seem destined to forever be in that 3-6 range, on the cusp of CL but never good enough to win any the EPL or CL.
Obviously this is all speculation and the douchebag owner will probably never sell, so it's all moot but fun to think about when you club shits the bed on the most important day of the season.

I can see Chelsea screwing the pooch some more. That 1-0 to Albion was not that convincing. The Arse could get 4th, but I really really really hope they don't. At leas their supporters know the defense sucks.
Re: Official European Football 2012 Regular Season Thread
Shocking defense from an Arsenal club that had no business playing such a high line against Spurs' speed. You expect them not to score goals, but defending like that was hugely embarrassing. Could have easily been 3 or 4 to 1.
Can't believe Gylfi didn't shoot that ball he had in the box; a better game from him today though. Adebayor was fucking useless as always, Defoe made a huge difference up front as soon as he came on. Big props to the Spurs defense, they were pretty solid and well organized throughout.
The better team won today, but Spurs still have a difficult schedule ahead.
Will Wenger even make it through the season?

Gylfi was good.
When Adebayor got hurt, I cheered.
Vertonghen is god.

What happened to adebayor? Last season he was kind of a beast and this season he plays like he's never seen a football before.

Re: Official European Football 2012 Regular Season Thread
Adebayor generally makes a great first impression. Honestly he should only ever be given one year contracts because he is the ultimate "contract year" footballer. Little to no motivation outside of earning a check. Can be unplayable on his day, but those seem to get less and less frequent in relation to how long he's at a club.

Didn't post after the West Ham Spurs game as I was too angry. Hurt almost as bad as the 2007 epic. Missed the NLD yesterday. Amazing result for Spurs, but it really pains me that they're doing so well after they've tried to fuck us over.
Great, great results this weekend for us. Plus, just got two tickets for Liverpool away! First ever trip to Anfield.

Losing games to inferior teams because of pathetic defending is nothing new, but it could hurt us more than previous years because the direct rivals might take advantage this time. Now we have to rely on dodgy lasagna

That game yesterday was a microcosm of your squad. Your back 4 is utter shite. Your midfield is excellent. And your attack shows up once every few matches.
THIS is why Arsenlol is the inferior team this year.
Stay butthurt tho.

I'm not saying Tottnumb haven't been the better team this year, but they're still a team we should beat easily. We have more money, history, fans, a bigger stadium and a better brand. There's no excuses for not being comfortably above Spurs in the table, for a club of our stature.Positive A wrote: THIS is why Arsenlol is the inferior team this year.

Well, you better get used to it and/or PRAY that Arab money comes in because Farcenal are not better. Its not 2004. This isn't the Invincibles. And too much of this "supposed" money just went to Theo Smallcock.Comedy Quaddafi wrote:I'm not saying Tottnumb haven't been the better team this year, but they're still a team we should beat easily. Money, history, fans, stadium size, brand don't mean shit when you can't pick players. LOL @ the idea that shitty fucking Vermaelen is your captain.

Fucking weak bro. We were easily the better team until the referee took a bribe and gave a very unwarranted red card to Nani. And now it's game over.
