Patrick Roy vs. Martin Brodeur

Post by Philaflava »

Is he the greatest goalie of our time? I got to think if not Marty Brodeur who's had a much longer career, it's gotta be Roy, right?

Roy has more trophies to show for it, plus played in a "better era." Brodeur has the better career numbers and has 12 or 13 records. Roy beat Broduer in '01 to win the Cup though. You really can't say one is in a league of their own. It might be 1a and 1b for me.

Vote goes to Patty. His days in Montreal as a 19, 20, 21, 22 year old are epic. But his season at 23 was unreal.

If I'm in a game 7 for the Cup and I can have any goalie ever, I don't hesitate to go with Roy.

The two best ever, tho. Belee dat.

Hasek was good but I don't think he was GOAT status like Marty or Roy. If I had to pick one goalie in his prime for Game 7 it would be St. Patrick all day long.

Hasek was great but he isn't in their class, not even close. He is in the class with Belfour and CuJo.

The man with Stanley Cup rings in his ears, but only because Tom Barrasso wasn't an option.

idk. hasek in his prime was unfuckwittable. sure roy and brodeur had long ass fucking careers and probably a more prolonged prime(???? Maybe i'm pulling that out of my ass?) but Hasek scared the fucking shit outta me in the mid 90's.

Hasek for a period but overall, he can't touch either of them.

Voted Roy.

I agree with the consensus that at his peak Hasek was the best but probably can't put him in the same class as Roy and brouder bc of longevity. But his 98 year might be best of all time.

Roy.

Marty played on a few of the NJ trap teams(aka the death of offense in the NHL) in the 90's
