Best WR not named Jerry Rice

Post by Philaflava »

Forget health. Forget the quarterback or the team. Forget current stats. Which is the best overall WR you've seen.

From the list.

Bitch barely made it into the HOF. I suppose I could add him, but there is only one real WR in Minnesota worth mentioning.

Maybe I got Inceptioned by that Grantland article or maybe I just realized we've kinda been spoiled by CJ. Talent wise, I don't know how you could say Moss is that much more talented in his prime. What Megatron does to backs is embarrassing. He is 28 now, let's just assume he has another 4 more productive years. Not sure how one could argue Moss being better. Maybe more flamboyant. Maybe more exciting but that's even up for debate. The path CJ is on now might easily eclipse Moss.

Only knock I have on Calvin Johnson, outside of health, is he has gotten a TON of stats in garbage in time throughout his career.

It is a bit different when you are getting and padding your stats while killing teams the when you are getting stats while you are already blown out and other team already has a W.

IDK. We're talking about the Lions. Stats are stats and that team has pretty much sucked for most of our lives. If anything look who CJ had throwing to him, Kita, Orlovsky and old beat up Culpepper and now Stafford. That should eliminate any "knock."

That is me just playing devils advocate. He is ridiculous. I do wish he could play with another QB (I don't like Stafford) and a non-retarded coach.

31-1 record. The two greatest scoring offenses in nfl history. What do they have in common? Randy Moss.

Stafford is the perfect stat Qb for a receiver bc he could care less about throwing 4 picks. Moss gets in the end zone, Calvin gets you close to the end zone . I've never seen a receiver get tackled so many times at the 1.

I'll take Randy over Calvin easily. Both can high point a ball in triple coverage like no other WRs, Calvin is bigger, stronger, and isn't crazy, but the young Minnesota Randy Moss was STUPID FAST, waaaayy faster than Calvin.

Randy Moss = the most talented WR to ever play.

Randy came into the league and as a rookie became the best wr in the game. CJ's first couple of years were very robotic. I remember watching him and all his routes and weren't as refined as he runs them now. Plus Randy also played in a NFL where the rules allowed defense to be more of a factor. Randy > CJ when both are playing at 100 %

BUT the gap is a lot closer because Randy was also a headcase and played hard only when he wanted. I might actually consider taking CJ over Randy because of this sole reason because you know you'll get CJ's best effort every year.

Mauce's astounding faggotry has to be factored in at some point.

going with moss right now. could be tron later on though.

aj green doesnt always do the deed but he always looks smooth so its hard to judge whats going on but it happens enough that i think hes mentally not all there all the time and im not sure he gives 100% even when he expects the ball (not like thats a bad thing but if mosss fluppery is to be considered then so must ajs occasional nonchalance)

its not fitz because frankly he can get shut down whereas rice tron and moss pretty much cannot unless hes being Dd up by revis with a 3rd string qb. that kind of shit. its not irvin but hes up there close to tron and moss. its not TO. ball dropper for like 2/3s of his career. its not andre but hes below irvin IMO. but andre is tough to judge because hes never had a decent qb for any decent period of time. schaub had like 1.5 good years. keenum is too new to consider for judgment of andres ability to connect with qbs. i cant decide whether harrison is below tron and above irvin or below andre but above green

Randy Moss
Larry Fitzgerald
Calvin Johnson
Terrell Owens
Michael Irvin
Marvin Harrison
A.J. Green
Andre Johnson

You are sleeping on Andre Johnson. Besides Jerry Rice he is one of two people (Harrison also) to have three 1,500 yard seasons. He is a beast, just in a bad situation. I also don't think anyone was shutting down Fitz in his prime when he had a real QB to throw him the ball. It is amazing he is the youngest to 11,000 yards when he has really only had 1 good QB his whole career. I would have it:

Moss
Calvin Johnson
Fitzgerald
Marvin Harrison
Andre Johnson
Terrell Owens
AJ Green

Not that I don't like Green, but he really shouldn't be on the list. He has only been in the league 3 years and has been very good, but nothing extraordinary. I didn't see any of Irvin in his prime so I left him off the list. Harrison highlight tape is not like the otheres, but he could get open at will and that can't be taken for granted. TOs mental stability and drops make him untrustworthy to me.

Randy Moss is one of the most dominant, feared WR's of all time.
He consistently killed defenses.
