Re: 2015 Baseball HoF Voting
I doubt they will. His vote will probably be taken away, but there wont be any big changes to the process. They of course could/should expand how many candidates voters are allowed to have on their ballot, but that has nothing to do DLB.Philaflava wrote:Assuming Lebatard doesn't help change the way things are.

Re: 2015 Baseball HoF Voting
I guess the better question is: John Smoltz. Without looking it up, I'd say yes. But I also think Big Mac is in the HOF too.

He's top 35 of all time in wRC+ and top 60 in wOBA.Tommy Bunz wrote:Have come around on Edgar.
I blame the baseball card market for ruining my perception of him. Being a compulsive collector from the mid 80s through the late 90s and constantly checking Beckett prices like I was wicked22 really fucked with my head.
His rookie card was fit for bicycle spokes. Shit, I held Buhner in a higher regard.
But then you check his career stats, and he had a wRC+ of 147 and a wOBA of .405 in nearly 9000 plate appearances. Fucking no-brain hall of famer.
Career 65 WAR. 60 is usually a good place to start if we're trying to determine whether or not a position player is worthy of hall of fame status. Trammell also qualifies at 64.

Edgar is a HOF but that DH thing will always handicap some votes. If he won rings like Ortiz or had some memorable post seasons he wouldn't have had the issue. Ortiz will have little problem getting into the HOF where as Edgar who is more deserving, will continue to experience this shit.

Ortiz could be the straw that breaks the PED Camel's back.
He's loved and revered and respected and has great numbers, widely regarded for clutch hitting....its going to be interested to see how he fares since he failed a drug test.

Re: 2015 Baseball HoF Voting
If Bonds and Clemens were well liked, which they weren't, they would be getting a lot more support. I don't know of another player who is more beloved in baseball these days than Big Papi.
Re: 2015 Baseball HoF Voting
It's all come down to steroids why they're not in, imo.

Re: 2015 Baseball HoF Voting
I was surprised nobody said Nomar, but then I checked the ol' Fangraphs and turns out he only had like 3/4 awesome years that I guess felt like 12 because I was 9 during his first 7 win season.
I have the same list as Tommy + Fred McGriff even though I never got his autograph when he played here because he would never sign like a faggot. I was usually the only kid there, bro.

Delgado, Schilling, and McGriff are bubble guys that I wouldn't vote in, but wouldn't be disgusted if they made it in eventually.
