Bilic new West Ham manager. I'm pretty happy with that.
Missed most of CL Final as I was in hospital with my new boy. I'm hoping West Ham do a Man City before he starts to decide supporting Chelsea.

The past couple days have been really exciting as a Liverpool supporter, that is barring any Loic Remy type collapses.
Milner, Ings, Bogdan, Joe Gomez, Nathaniel Clyne, Firmino, + Origi.
If we could snag one of Lacazette, Bacca, or Rondon I would be over the moon. Great window, just need to top it off with a striker.

Re: Official European Football 2014-15 Regular Season Thread
All Liverpools signings are Europa League level or below. But some of them are young and have potential. Firmino should be interesting to watch.
For Arsenal I want the Cech deal to get done and then I would like a better striker, but don't think 2nd tier strikers like Bacca etc can take us to the next level. Benzema or bust basically. No good strikers available. But if we get someone of that caliber and Cech we are favorites to win next season IMO.

Whether to Jason of Philaflava or John Podesta, I will speak my fucking perspective openly

I definitely don't think Milner, Clyne, or Firmino are Europa level or below. Ings, Bogdan, and Gomez are all squad players, but improvement over others in the 25. Origi I'm not sure what to think, he was shit last year in France, but looked really bright in the WC.
Cech going to Arsenal is huge.
Sounds like Bacca is off to Milan.

Benteke to Liverpool is a great get, it will be really interesting to see him with some solid midfielders feeding him.

Yep, a lot of money but I'm stoked. Surprised by the mixed reaction of fans to the signing. Benteke is a proven goal scorer, and a Top 5 forward in the Epl. I'll always be in favor of adding anyone who is physically dominant, which he certainly is, but Benteke is more than that. Belgium plays a possession game and he has excelled with the national team. Comparisons to Carroll or Heskey are just lazy. Sturridge and Benteke up top, with Coutinho feeding them the rock...hell yeah.

Re: Official European Football 2014-15 Regular Season Thread
He's been so hot and cold recently which is why I think people are lukewarm about it. The price is off-putting as well but I think it's the right move too. They haven't exactly been on target with their purchases, particularly up front and Benteke is about the level they can hope for.

Spurs need to man up and buy a new striker. Adebayor and Soldado obviously aren't gonna hack it and kane shouldn't have to bear the goal-scoring burden all by himself. What do we buy instead? MORE DEFENDERS WOOHOOOOOO!!! we won't be happy until we have 2 dozen for each defensive position.

Ade and Soldado are gone soon. So yeah, we really need a backup.odium-LSC wrote:Spurs need to man up and buy a new striker. We also desperately need a proper CDM. Converting Dier to that position is going to be a trainwreck.
Re: Official European Football 2014-15 Regular Season Thread
Probably won't be a better time for Spurs to face United than game 1. Excited for this weekend.
Spurs needed more defenders so I'm not mad. They've got a reasonable midfield, you have to hope Erickson and Chadli take another step forward this season. Not hoping for much from Lamela, but I guess the talent is there. Good move in selling Paulinho and Holtby. But yes, a striker is necessary, and in this window. Not expecting anyone major.
Sadly I think 5th or 6th is probably the most you can hope for again this season.

Personally, I think last year was a fluke for Spurs. I don't think they improved all that much aside from the Alderweireld signing but I don't trust that midfield. I can see them taking a slight step back.

Well...Darmian and Smalling were great for United. Pretty boring game. Silver lining is that the Toby/Jan pairing looks good.
Ah well. Here we come 6th!

Yeah, United looked lackluster, for sure. Dunno what they're supposed to do going forward without some other options; they only seem to have a load of small-bottom smalls

Im going to miss most games this year because I work on most weekends.
Not even bothered by it right now. Glad I missed our annual first game collapse and the postgame depression.

Re: Official European Football 2014-15 Regular Season Thread
Payet shredded Arsenal all game long, he was a one-man wrecking crew. They were so well balanced and disciplined, they deserved all 3 points without question.
If the goal is to win the league, this club is still a ways off, much more so than people cared to face. And if people think they're European challengers they're even more delusional. They addressed exactly zero of their major weakness and will run into the same problems and the same results as last year. They deserve this result and they deserve their standing in the table year after year.
I hope this year people will begin to accept how overrated Ramsey and especially Ozil are. They're huge liabilities. Coq is nowhere close to being world class (he was shockingly bad) and Giroud is as good as he'll ever be which is above average.
"Oh it's only one game." Except it's not. They've played this exact same game dozens and dozens of time and will continue to do so.
"Oh but Sanchez barely played." So everything is riding on him? Sound strategy.
"Oh but Cech is world class." Yeah? Maybe he's not anymore.
"Oh but Walcott can play through the middle, he can be world class." Sign him to a big fat contract, start him all through the preseason, aaaaaaaaand off the bench in Week 1.
I was never expecting them to seriously challenge for the title but for fuck's sake, how embarrassing, yet again.
