Re: Phila Fantasy Hockey
I think it's early to have to submit keepers, I mean most publications, including Yahoo doesn't even have their rankings out yet.
Can we at least round up the managers new or old, then agree on a draft time?

I noticed the keepers tab has disappeared in our league.

Keeper deadline has been changed to Mon Oct 6 at 9 pm ET.
Re: Phila Fantasy Hockey
kinda makes it hard to pre-rank players if we don't know who's available until the draft...

Re: Phila Fantasy Hockey
snowcones wants to keep perry, backes & bishop. he said he traded rask for the #1 pick but to me that means he is keeping 4 because trading rights to another player you aint keeping doesnt add up.

Re: Phila Fantasy Hockey
Yeah that was to me, but waaaay before we decided on expansion. In one of my original emails I said that I'd void that trade because it wouldn't seem fair.Philaflava wrote:snowcones wants to keep perry, backes & bishop. he said he traded rask for the #1 pick but to me that means he is keeping 4 because trading rights to another player you aint keeping doesnt add up.

Re: Phila Fantasy Hockey
do the trade if you want but i think that means those players traded should equal a player kept. trading draft picks for draft picks is diff.

Re: Phila Fantasy Hockey
So in this situation would it mean the following:Philaflava wrote:do the trade if you want but i think that means those players traded should equal a player kept. trading draft picks for draft picks is diff.
The trade was Rask for my first pick (which would be my fourth round pick since our keepers will be Rounds 1, 2, 3.)
That would make my keepers (hypothetically) Rask, Benn, Karlsson. Then I don't pick until Round 5.
SnoCones keeps his three OG keepers and gets two picks in Round 4 (mine and his draft picks).
Would that mean I fill out my vacant roster spot after the draft?

Nick P aka Snowcones doesn't post here but he works for me. Said he would trade Rask if you want for the 1st pick.

Re: Phila Fantasy Hockey
Ok. I'm going to add Rask to my team and give him my first pick (4th round). I'll have to add his last round pick to the trade as well. He'll have his roster filled by the 2nd last round and I'll be one short.Philaflava wrote:Nick P aka Snowcones doesn't post here but he works for me. Re: Phila Fantasy Hockey
isn't he basically trading one of his three keepers for your first round pick? how do we own rights to anyone outside of the three we keep?

Ah ok. I see what you're saying. That makes sense.

you could trade anyone you have on your team up until keepers are finalized. if he had no intention of keeping rask then he could trade him for another player or in this case a draft pick.

Re: Phila Fantasy Hockey
no you cant. that is pretty much a written rule in keeper leagues. it's real simple, you have the rights to 3 players. that's it.
you can trade any one of those 3 players, but you can't keep 3 and say i want to trade a guy who you are NOT keeping (who will be a FA) and trade him to another person. this is pretty much universally known in the fantasy world. because you are now owning 4 players. you can trade draft picks tho.

if that's the case, keepers should be submitted at the end of the seasonPhilaflava wrote:no you cant. that is pretty much a written rule in keeper leagues. it's real simple, you have the rights to 3 players. that's it.

Re: Phila Fantasy Hockey
I agree with Jason. It's gotta be a keeper for a keeper. Unless we decide that you can trade a player (potential keeper for other team) for a pick, but that needs to be stated before the season ends.
I think with the way it is now. you don't can have keepers submitted just before the draft, but it can limit off season trading, which doesn't get much movement anyways.

Re: Phila Fantasy Hockey
at any rate, not to rush or anything, but could we get a heads up when keepers are finalized so we can get to pre-ranking what's left.
also, since the talent pool will be diluted with the extra teams, do we want to bring penalty minus back into the mix to add value to useless turds who just play hockey to fight?

Re: Phila Fantasy Hockey
say you have a team of 7 super stars but you can only keep 3. well if you trade the 4 for better draft picks you're basically cheating because you not only kept the 3 you're allowed but you're trading players you have no rights to for better draft picks.T Rav wrote:I agree with Jason. how it works in most keeper leagues, there is a deadline where you submit your keepers. then there is a draft. fin.

Re: Phila Fantasy Hockey
if draft is in 2 days we should really have keeper list set tonight so we can prepare our drafts by looking at the rankings.

Re: Phila Fantasy Hockey
I'm just gonna quash the trade. It doesn't make any sense for SnowCones as it's not the same trade that we agreed to at the end of last year with the new GM's in the league now. And Gloss is right, it would mean he keeps four with that trade and the new setup with those GMs. So fuck it, I don't think its fair to SnowCones or the rest of the league.
He didn't submit his keepers, but I'm sure he'll want Rask, Perry, Backes as opposed to Bishop in the Goalie.
Bearskin didn't submit keepers either, but I'm assigning his top three.
