Not to rehash, but I like the Ubaldo trade for the Indians. Although they gave up a lot, what chance does a mid/small market team have any more? We obviously can't afford a pitcher like CC/Cliff Lee, but given the shot at a gamble/borderline #1 for half the price, we have to take a risk if we have any chance at winning. A corner outfielder who can hit would have filled a more pressing need, but this gamble is worth the risk if you ask me.

harden trade fell through.
indians still won't make the playoffs.
tigers gave up too much for fister/pauley but they needed help.
just read that the braves traded for bourn. good move for them, assuming they didn't give up more than one of their top pitching prospects. they're going to look like an NL contender if everybody is healthy in september.
edit: scratch that, really good move for the braves.

Those numbers are interesting considering the Phils were one of the teams in violation of the MLB's debt guidelines this year.Philaflava wrote:Tommy Bunz wrote:The team isn't even that profitable.
When was the last time they didn't sell-out a home game? Forbes has them as #6 but I'm sure those numbers may have even changed after this year.

http://www.forbes.com/forbes/2010/0426/ ... onies.htmlLast year there were 73 sellouts, with total attendance at 3.6 million. The Phillies posted an operating profit of $14 million on revenue of $233 million. While revenue for Major League Baseball's 30 teams rose 1.4%, the Phillies' increased 8%. Fueled by two consecutive trips to the World Series, the Phillies could set another attendance record this year; three weeks before opening day fans had already purchased 3 million tickets.

I've chilled out with the reactionary posting brah, I make less enemies that way.Gregg Popabitch wrote:oh how i long for the days of joe pesci complaining about every AJ Burnett called ball four and overreacting to an a-rod strikeout in the 9th inning of a game where the yankees are down 1 with a runner on 2nd.
Anywho, Yankees really need to take 2 out of 3 in Boston this weekend.
I caught some of the Sox game last night and I wasn't aware of just how shitty Crawford's season has really been. 12 stolen bases, batting .248, and after further investigation an OPS of .667 with an OPS+ well under 100.
